“New Model. Original Parts.”

And you thought only games got remade. The above trailer should let you know that not only is the movie industry out of ideas, but it has taken yet another page out of gaming’s marketing plan.

”Fast and Furious” looks to give the original movie’s cast something to do after being out of (profitable) work for some time now.

The trailer is entertaining, though, and it makes us mildly interesting in the “film,” out next summer.

Our partners in crime at R3Match just finished recording their podcast show #2 last night featuring our own Juan Perez and Carlos Macias. Carlos writes for R3Match in addition to his work here on Kezins. In this edition, C4 (the host) made things work despite the fact we were having audio issues.

If you want to find out what games the guys are currently playing, definitely give the podcast a listen. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions below as well and we’ll make things happen. If tournaments and ladders are your thing, definitely pay R3 a visit. You will not regret it. Click on the link for the podcast below!

Wouldn’t it be awesome to control the DC Universe as a villain or hero and change the outcome as we know it.  Well, with Sony Online Entertainment, SOE,  creating this new MMORPG with our favorite characters is possible.  Hire Lex Luther to kill Superman, work with the Joker to battle Batman or fight the speedy red tights hero Flash!

I’ve been reading and writing game articles for several years now and thought it was about time I published a list of my 5 favorite game related articles of all-time.  We’re currently in an era that many experts describe as “new games journalism”.  While some people think we need to stick to traditional writing rules, I feel that gaming journalism requires writers to think outside the box.  Methodical structures are a thing of the past.  My criteria for considering an article “great” include integrity, creativity, lasting appeal, humor and originality.  If an article excels in at least 3 of those categories, it’s definitely a winner.  Feel free to comment below and let us know what your favorite articles (with links) of all-time were.

From my own vast collection of bookmarked articles:

In an age where video game blogging can be done anywhere, are we effected by the high gas crisis? Technology has improved, so the old school way of driving to work, 5 days a week, should be a thing of the past. Well it looks like Ohio’s Kent State University, has proposed the idea to 94 employees and 78 have taken them on it.

“By allowing employees to work four 10-hour days it will save them 20 percent on their commute costs and ease the financial pinch of filling up their cars,” said Oakland County, Michigan, executive L. Brooks Patterson, who last week proposed the compressed week for county workers.”

Lockpick Entertainment has been hard at work on a closed beta for Dreamlords The Awakening, an MMO RPG and RTS mashup, and is opening the doors for everyone to check out the game. They’re quick to point out the following in their press release:

* Free to Play.
* Recruit and manage your troops, form alliances with other players or crush them…
* Bring your Dreamlord with you all the time in the game, equip it with various exciting gear and cool stuff.
* Simplified rules system, easy to get into – hard to master.

The sequel continues the story of “the mystical Dreamlords,” as they traverse pieces of land called Patrias. Seems like an interesting enough plot for a hack-and-slash MMO. Most importantly…its free! Let us know what you think of it in the comments.

The above video is a trailer for Zak McKracken: Between Time and Space, a German game where development started over 7 years ago.

Zak McKracken: Between Time & Space is an unofficial sequel to Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, and has been in development for more than seven years. The game boasts over fifty locations, 3D models, high-quality backgrounds and professional voice work - but the drawbacks are that it’s in German, and the download size is close to 2 GB in total.
