R3match Radio Podcast: Show 3 - 8/28/08
August 29, 2008
Surprised by our own persistence and dedication to keeping a podcast up and running on a weekly basis, we bring you Show 3 of “R3match Radio.”
The word from the site:
After ONE show co-hostin’ with Jason and Carlos last week, Juan took a quick vacation out…somewhere in the East Coast. But the show must go on and the super-duo brought it this week with some Mercenaries 2 talk, Xbox 360 motion-control rumor-mongering, as well as “Red Ring of Death” reminiscing.
Pictorial Discussion: Halo Wars Box Art
We threw in the following song, from our favorite ad at the moment, for some added affect:
‘Mercenaries 2′ Ad Lyrics
Oh, nooo…
Oh, nooo…
Oh, nooo…Yo, yo, yo.
Oh, no, you didn’t,
Sucka try to play me,
But you never paid me,
Never,Oh, no, you didn’t,
Payback is a-comin’,
You will be runnin’ for-e-ver,Oh, no, you didn’t,
Until I get my vengeance,
I will never end this may-hem,Oh, no, you didn’t,
I’m a mercenary,

Do We Hate the Wii?
August 18, 2008
GoNintendo recently posted an interesting article titled ‘Why is the Wii so unloved compared to PS3 & Xbox 360?’ While hate is a strong word, there are plenty of reasons that the Wii isn’t getting as much love from certain gamers and game media outlets. When I sit back and try to think of the really good games on the Wii, I can only name a handful. If you want me to list the terrible Wii games, that would be over 90% of the games released for the system. The graphics are mediocre and last-generation at best. Nintendo has pretty much abandoned the core gamer with the Wii and gone in the direction of mass market appeal, which they have obviously had tons of success with. I can’t knock Nintendo entirely, because they have made some sound business decisions. Sometimes the minority is left out in these decisions, even if the minority is the reason Nintendo had huge success back in the 1980s and 1990s.

Word of the Day: “Dap”
August 14, 2008
Dap is one of those interesting words with numerous meanings. We have yet to find a real reason to use the first meaning in the online environment, but we’ll eventually find the reason. Dap is basically a fist-on-fist greeting used to show respect. Back in the 1990s, we’d say “give me some dap” all the time, but the word eventually faded from common use. The online meaning for dap or d.a.p. happens to be “dumb ass person”, which is probably the form of the word we could still use on a daily basis. For example, “Jack Thompson is a d.a.p.”. The above image shows the future President of the United States giving his wife some dap. Sorry McCain, but we already know you lost. We’re really not sorry, but it sounded like the right thing to say.
The definition of “dap” according to The Free DIctionary obviously has nothing to do with the urban slang form of the word we use. It’s just simply a cool word and we’d like to bring it back.
dap (d
p)
intr.v. dapped, dap·ping, daps1. To fish by letting a baited hook fall gently onto the water.2. To dip lightly or quickly into water, as a bird does.3. To skip or bounce, especially over the surface of water.
Word of the Day: “Bitchassness”
August 13, 2008
We decided to start a new segment on the site called “Word of the Day”. Our challenge to you is to find a way to use each word of the day to enhance your life. I’m a huge fan addict of Dictionary.com’s “Word of the Day” but we’ll be choosing terms that you are unlikely to find there. Today’s word of the day is “bitchassness” coined by P Diddy on Making The Band. I find that this particular word is appropriate for the gaming world as well. If you play a lot of online games, you certainly run into numerous people who fall into this term.
The term basically refers to negative actions towards others through words and expressions. If you think you are better than those around you, like to lie or are just a shady individual, you probably suffer from bitchassness.
‘Tropic Thunder’: I Could Care Less About The Use of the “R” Word
August 13, 2008
Some people are trying to boycott Tropic Thunder because they use the word “retard(ed)” in the film. Others have claimed that Robert Downey Jr’s character is basically “black face”. The difference between “black face” and what we see with Tropic Thunder is that TT is meant to be funny, not hurtful. As far as people complaining about the use of the word “retard(ed)”, grow the fuck up. It actually shocks me that news anchors are calling it the “R” word now. The film is not making light of mental conditions and any moron could figure that out. People opposed to the film are taking quotes from the film out of context. Until they take the word retarded out of the dictionary, I have no problem with someone using it. The Bush administration hasn’t taken away free speech from us yet, so there’s really no room for people to complain. You people need to lighten up and grow thicker skin or just never leave your house. The PC movement in America simply continues to go too far. I’m not sure if there’s anything left in this world that doesn’t offend them. This post will probably offend them and I could honestly care less.
With that said, Tropic Thunder is probably the best comedy I have seen in several years. If you like laughing, this film is non-stop laughs from start to end. Don’t let the haters keep you from watching a really funny film.
OOh La-La, Jessica Rabbit leaves ToonTown
July 17, 2008
Our readers asked for her, and we deliver. “Can we have a remake of Roger Rabbit as well? I am sure Jessica Rabbit can be enhanced to look even more voluptuous than ever!” by Rufugee
Check out Jessica Rabbit in all her voluptousness. (Is that a word?) Wow, I can see all the sparkle in that dress. And that’s only where I was looking, at the dress!

E3: Microsoft Press Conference Expectations (Rumors)
July 12, 2008
We expect an exciting press conference this Monday from Microsoft at E3. There are plenty of rumors out there, so we’ll try to only report the ones we feel are credible. The biggest rumor we expect is the announcement of Halo 4. Word on the street is that the game will NOT feature Master Chief as the main character. If this is true, it could possibly hurt the franchise. I just hope the lead character will be up to snuff.

Other things we expect:
- ‘Rock Band 2′ will be featured.
- ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ should be talked about.
- Microsoft will add some hype to ‘Dead Space’
- Perhaps we’ll hear something about Fable 2 having online co-op.
- Xbox 360 price cuts and new SKU!
With any E3, it’s hard to say exactly what will happen, but we’re fairly certain that at least a few of the things I mentioned above will take place.

Microsoft Bans ‘Ben Dover’
July 3, 2008
If you currently have a variation of ‘Ben Dover’ as your name on Xbox LIVE, you will be required to change it if Microsoft hasn’t already banned your name. It seems to me like Microsoft is getting a little too “PC” and trying to eliminate any kind of creative screen names that may have adult meanings behind them. Recently, Microsoft also decided to ban any screen names with the word “gay” included.
Are they going too far with name restrictions? What do you guys think? I realize that Microsoft is worried about offending people, but perhaps they are going a little too far. How about banning the foul-mouthed punks who continually plague XBL? Screen names are really the least of my worries.
