Each week, thousands and thousands of interesting video game related posts hit the net. We try to read as many as we possibly can here at Kezins. In an attempt to filter through the trash, we plan to post the ten most interesting posts from various sites each weekend. This weekend features stories from Kotaku, GameDaily, Exophase, Arstechnica, Wiibrew, Engadget, YouTube, VGG, 1Up and Gaming Today. If you’d like to send us news tips to more great stories, feel free to email us at tips@kezins.com.
The game we’ve been waiting several years for is just about ready to be unleashed on the world. To check out the first official trailer and webcast for the game, check out www.StarTrekOnline.com. The video and webcast were first shown at the annual Star Trek convention in Las Vegas over the weekend. Set in the year 2409, you will be able to captain a Federation or Klingon ship throughout the known galaxy. Many Star Trek games have failed in the past, but I have a really good feeling about this one.
We wanted to go ahead and wish everyone a Happy 4th (even our Canadian readers)! I hope most of you get the chance to take it easy this weekend and have a little fun with your friends and family. This is a great chance to get off the internet and have a little fun in the non-virtual world. If you can’t think of too many things to be happy about, just realize that by next year at this time, GW will no longer be in office.
Drink plenty of beer and light a sparkler or two…
When we first asked you “Will Saints Row 2 Be Better than GTAIV?” we were not surprised to see a split decision. Now, two months after GTAIV has been out, we wonder… Which game will have a longer replay value? After reading some reviews on GTA IV a lot of people have ejected the disc.
What’s in your PS3 or X360 this weekend?
I do believe Saints Row 2 will do well in sales. Since GTA was an exclusive title for the Playstation and GTAIV did well for the X360, I see the same happening with Saints Row 2.
My husband and I spent the weekend watching the A&E show ‘The Two Coreys’ this weekend. I spent Monday chatting around the water cooler with co-workers about this horrible, horrible train wreck of a show. There is nothing much better than watching others’ misery. The harrowing, nail-biting scene was a showdown at a deli between the two to clear the air. They both started talking about being molested! Really? Why you mad at your friend, Haim? He’s got nothing to do with it. Feldman copped to being molested as a child also. My first thought, IT WAS MICHAEL! Feldman imitated the MJ in the most bizarre way for years. It was uncomfortable to see him with a fake Jerri Curl, fedora, white socks, black shoes, and a single glove. White people ain’t supposed to do that. I would say Feldman was doing black-face but that wouldn’t be quite accurate either. Michael Jackson was doing white face. Anyway, I digress.

Looking to get your “I saw Jaws at Universal Studios, and all I got was this half eaten t-shirt” signed? Look no further my friends. The Big Apple Comic Con is making it’s way this weekend to NYC. One of the main stars that will make a visit this weekend, will be the Academy Award Winner Richard Dreyfuss (Appearing Sunday Only 11am-3pm)
Some of the other great stars are Actor/Rapper Ice-T and beautiful wife Playboy model Coco.

Starting NOW, COD4 Double XP weekend is here. Call your clan mates and tell em I sent ya. Nothing is sweeter than getting XP for kills, but getting double XP is twice the fun. I must say, your friend here mrjuandrful is no yellow belly when it comes to Call of Duty 4. So if you’re looking for me on the Internets, just invite me as a friend and get your PS3 COD4 dog tags handed back to you.

Now that you have all had time to check out the first Gears of War 2 gameplay video over the weekend, what do you think? Personally, I’m not all that impressed with what I saw. I was certainly expecting a step up in graphics and less choppy gameplay, but didn’t see anything in the video that showed me there were many improvements. It looks like pretty much the same game as the original Gears. It did look like the pistol was full-auto, which hopefully is an indication that they have improved or at least changed some of the weapons. To be honest with you, I was not a huge fan of the original game and felt like it was the most over-rated title of 2006. I’m not saying it was a bad game. I felt it was a good game, but did not deserve the overwhelming praise it received.
My reasoning behind my feelings for the original Gears primarily deal with the fact that the game at it’s core did not offer anything new in the genre. The game engine itself was impressive, but the gameplay was severely lacking in my opinion. I know that’s not the most popular opinion in the world, but it’s a legitimate concern expressed by myself and others. Fortunately, Gears 2 will be longer and more epic. They have tweaked the multiplayer elements, but I haven’t had the opportunity to see what changes have been made yet. Epic also added a chainsaw duel mode which should add some depth to the new title. From what I have seen so far, I expect Gears 2 to be a slightly better game, but perhaps not as great as some people expect. If you are a Gears fan, you’ll probably love it. I just hope they added enough to attract gamers that weren’t so hot on the original.
The above video features Daniel Perez getting in on some MGO action at NY Comic Con this past weekend. For those of you just joining the Kezins.com community, Daniel Perez is my old video game partner in crime. He brought me into the business a couple years ago and we both moved on from smaller projects to work with Ziff Davis Media Game Group on Gaming Today (news.filefront.com). I have since left ZD and returned to the world of freelance blogging. Daniel is currently the marketing and PR director for FileFront.com. It’s unfortunate that I no longer with with Daniel. He’s one of the few stand up characters in this business, but I do get to work with his brother Juan aka ‘mrjuandrful’. Juan is basically the Padawan version of Daniel, but I certainly believe the force is strong with him, so we’ll just have to wait and find out who becomes the most powerful Jedi journalist of the two.

The 4 NEW Maps are:

- Broadcast
- Killhouse
- Chinatown
I just caught a great article posted on Gaming Today for the new COD4 maps available for the US via DLC on April 24th. For our Eurpean viewers, you guys will have to wait one week more, May 1st, to experience the awesomeness. With the release of the new map packs be sure to expect some server issues as everyone who owns a PS3 will be trying to play on the new maps. Problem is they are on a shuffle schedule, and I can never tell which map is coming up next. Annoying.
In addition to the new maps being released, Infinity Ward Developers will be showcasing their talents on April 25th. You can catch them online from 8pm EDT to 11pm EDT. Oh boy, would I Like to get those Dev’s in “Shipment” and melee them with knives (to thank them of course for THE Best FPS)

“To celebrate the release of both map packs we will be hosting a Double XP weekend for North America from 12:01 AM PDT on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. North American players will be able to play the new maps against members of the Infinity Ward team on Friday, April 25 from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.
We’ll also be hosting another special Double XP and Play With Devs event for our worldwide / European users specifically. For our European fans, we will have a Double XP weekend beginning at 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, May 2 and concluding at 11:59 PM GMT on Sunday, May 4. You will also get a chance to play the new maps against the IW team on Friday, May 2 from 7 PM GMT to 10 PM GMT. That way you guys aren’t left out due to conflicting time zones!”
