In an effort to keep the ‘ish going on a semi-regular basis we invited (read: hassled) a Texas friend of the show, Jeremy Lowe, to talk some games with Carlos today. They dig into some LittleBigPlanet, Tekken 6, God of War “sacrifices” and bunch of other Tokyo Game Show related news. Also, notice how we disregard Jeremy’s daughter, Victoria, first podcast appearance in the background.

We were so jealous when we found out that record-breaking Gold-medal U.S. swimmer, Michael Phelps, got an early copy of Call of Duty: World at War a few months early, that any gamer watching likely spit out most of whatever they were eating at an unsuspecting television in front of them.
MTV got to the bottom of the story recently to let us know that, in fact, Mr. Phelps received nothing but an EMPTY box. The game, apparently, hasn’t even gone gold yet! Now, the swimmer only has his share of gold medals AND records to gloat about in our faces. No wonder he seemed unfazed at the end of the following video, he knew he was being lied to all along!
All hating aside, though, Activision did promise to send him a copy of the game, free of charge, when it’s actually released.

Many gamers still say the PS2 has some fight left in him. I mean it was only a few years ago, that Grand Theft Auto III, God of War and Metal Gear Solid 3 were all EXCLUSIVES on the PlayStation 2 console. Now in it’s 8th year, we may be seeing the end of the PS2 as more games port over to the PS3. (i.e. Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3)
With the above said, this brings me to one of THE last great games on the PS2. Yakuza 2 will be released on the PS2 on September 9th, 2008. Yakuza 2 or Ryu Ga Gotoku 2 (JPN).

[UPDATE] - Our prediction of the “end of an era with the PS2″ looks more concrete as Yakuza 3 looks to be ported to the PS3.
Yakuza 3 (known in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku 3 (龍が如く3?)) is the third installment in the Yakuza video game series. It was revealed in the July 2008 issue of Famitsu that Yakuza: Kenzan!, the third installment to the series, was actually a spin-off and this latest installment will continue the adventures of Kiryu Kazuma from Yakuza and Yakuza 2. The game will take place both in fictional Kamuro-cho from the first two games and in Okinawa. The game will be released in Japan in Spring 2009, exclusively for the PlayStation 3.

If you are easily offended, Tropic Thunder may not be the film for you. If you are looking for a lot of laughs, I’m not sure why you haven’t seen it yet. Some of the best quotes from the film really make more sense if you’ve actually watched the movie. The witty film makes fun of Hollywood and numerous Vietnam war films. Here’s my choice for the top five Tropic Thunder quotes:
Kirk Lazarus: I know who I am! I’m the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude! (from trailer)
Alpa Chino: …because they had one good part in there for a *black* man, and they gave it to “Crocodile Dundee”!

We’ve been seeing this story making the rounds online, but we decided to hold off on said postage from the lack of info. Well, for now at least, we know that GameStop and Amazon have kicked off their pre-order program for the upcoming LittleBigPlanet on PS3.
Those of you going with the lesser of two evils (in this case, Amazon) will get a Brady Games-sanctioned “LittleBigPlanet Creator” miniguide when the game ships out to you. GameStop patrons will be able to get their hands on an in-game Kratos, of God of War fame, which is actually split in four different parts: skin, goatee, blades and clothing.
As much as we adore GameStop’s “excellent” customer service, we have to hand it to them…they have the better deal — plus, no waiting to get your create-a-level on with shipping shenanigans.

Velvet Assassin (previous, working title: Sabotage) is an upcoming stealth action video game for Xbox 360 and PC to be released on October 17th, 2008. SHARON!!! Looking to bite off a bat’s head? Our man Ozzy, will be a playable character in GH:World Tour. There will be a digital enhanced OZZFest that will be a venue in the game. I know there’s been a bunch of classic Ozzy songs in past Guitar Hero’s including: War Pigs, Iron Man, Bark At The Moon and Paranoid. Man, War Pigs is such a good tune to let it fly!!!
