Each week, XBLA received either good titles or really terrible ones.  This week, it looks like we have two iffy games and one pretty good one.  Blazing Lizard’s Pirates Vs. Ninjas Dodgeball (800MP) will be available and I’m sure it will do fine, even though I wasn’t really impressed with anything I saw in the game.  Shred Nebula (800MP), the space-shooter will also hit the scene.  I’d probably say this is the safe bet for the week, because it’s at least a fun game.  Finally, they will be adding Gin Rummy (400MP).  The last time I checked, 80-year old grandmothers were playing the Wii, not the Xbox 360, so I have no idea who the hell is going to buy this game.  

One thing that continues to upset me with the arcade is the lack of quality “arcade” titles.  There are so many great old school games begging to be re-made, but we typically see mediocre titles released most weeks.  Shred Nebula isn’t the greatest game, but it’s still one worth picking up, so this week wasn’t a total loss.  At this point in the game, I expect better games.  XBLA has been around too long for this to keep happening most weeks.

European gamers will get the chance to check out ‘Table Football’ on the Wii tomorrow when it’s released. It’s a shame there’s no North American release scheduled at this time. Table football or foosball as we call it in the states is probably one of the greatest social games ever invented next to beer pong.

What the hell is ‘Cheetah Girls: Passport to Stardom’?.  I’m sure anyone reading this article will probably wonder the same thing.  Don’t worry.  I asked myself the exact same thing when I heard about the new Nintendo DS game hitting shelves tomorrow.  I assumed it had something to do with singing, dancing and fashion accessories and was somehow right.  

The game will include various songs from the Cheetah Girls movies.  Of course I’ve never watched any of them, so really can only go on what I was able to dig up with my Google-fu skills.  According to Wikipedia, the game will include the following features:

Play as Aqua, Chanel, and Dorinda as they dazzle fans worldwide with their music and dance coreography.

Explore 9 different locations as you perform in three international cities- New York, Barcelona and Mumbai!

Unfortunately there really aren’t any other games of note coming out this weekend.  It’s been a rather slow week in games anyway.  The only game of note coming out in the near future is Madden 09 on Tuesday.

It looks like the rumors that Microsoft will be handing out price cuts for E3 are true. According tho the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft will be taking $50 off the price of the Xbox 360 Premium package this Sunday. I’m sure with this news breaking, we will probably see more price cuts Monday. Some rumors have also indicated that accessory prices may also drop.

Considered one of the best PC games of all time, Warren Spector’s (who works for Disney Interactive now) Deus Ex will be made available on GameTap for free play after an initial 15-second ad-gasm.

While a bit dated, the game warrants a play — it’s free! — as it was one of the first shooters to incorporate RPG elements into the gameplay. It’s not the most trigger-happy title, but its branching paths and cyperpunk story line should keep you well entertained. Deus Ex 3 is currently in development by Eidos Montreal so this should serve as a primer before that game sees the light of day.
