Ougon no Kizuna, the new RPG for Wii (scans)
August 28, 2008
The Nintendo Wii really needed more RPGs and the console is starting to deliver. Ougon no Kizuna, being developed by Jaleco, may be one of the more interesting RPGs to hit consoles in some time. It’s also nice to see Jaleco back in action. They made some really awesome games back in the 1980s.
The game is an action-RPG, where you will use the Wii Nunchuck in battle. I don’t know a lot about the game yet, but it certainly looks like a title we need to keep our eyes on.

Madden 2009 Achievements: Too Easy?
August 25, 2008
We all remember how pretty much any “2006″ sports title had achievements that were practically handed to the player. An infant could get 1,000 achievement points those days. It looks like Madden 2009 has gone back to those days. I was actually surprised when I had earned every possible achievement after about 5 games. While I am not a huge supporter of achievements, I feel like developers should still use them responsibly. Why not make players earn their score? You can sell a crap game if it has easy achievements and they know this. I’m sure Madden 2009 would have initially sold just as well with harder achievements though. These easy achievements will certainly boost sales once the game is older.
Out of all the achievements from Madden 2009, only one was a slight challenge for me to pick up. That was achieving six sacks with one player in a game. I pulled that off on my 5th game. If you are half-decent at Madden, you should be able to get over 400 gamerscore from the first game alone, especially if you play against a rival.
Madden Better on the Wii?
August 23, 2008
I never thought I’d see the day where I thought a multi-platform game was better on the Wii than the Xbox 360 or Sony PS3, but that day has come. Although the game has a different title and has different features, I feel like it’s still something I needed to compare to the 360/PS3 version. I recently reviewed Madden NFL 09 for the Xbox 360 and felt it wasn’t the great game everyone was giving it credit for. My primary issues with the game was lag, the game freezing, game glitches and numerous problems with the AI.
Looks Like ‘GTA IV’ is HUGELY Popular
August 21, 2008

While it comes as no surprise that a game with “Grand Theft Auto” in the title would go on to sell millions upon millions, it does come as a bit of a surprise that it has beaten ALL of Nintendo’s console offerings, saleswise.
NPD has reported that Grand Theft Auto IV has gone and sold a cool $6,293,000 in North America and Europe (the game will be out shortly in Japan). Followed closely by Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and Guitar Hero III, in order.

Chicago Game Store Burglars Ask Cops For Ride Home…
August 19, 2008
The title pretty much says it all. Five teenagers were arrested in Chicago for breaking into a video game store and looting merchandise. The strange part is that two of the criminals nearly escaped the scene, but they asked police officers for a ride home and that’s how they were caught.
I’m not sure if these guys were gamers or not, but they ceratainly need to play a little more Grand Theft Auto IV. They could probably learn a thing or two from our good friend Niko Bellic when it comes to the proper way s of evading police. These guys may actually make our list of “world’s dumbest gamer criminals”.
We decided to use the Beta image of Niko above because these guys don’t deserve the real thing.

The Making Of ‘CEVILLE’ (Video)
August 15, 2008
Kalypso Media today released the first Making Of Video of the upcoming adventure CEVILLE. We’ve certainly been looking forward to the game and it looks like things are coming along nicely. In the thirteen minute video, the developers talk about the story and how they financed the production of the game. CEVILLE looks like it’s shaping up to be a very weird adventure title. Fortunately, weird is good in a world where too many games have standard stories. What’s really interesting about this video is the fact that they show us how the developers and publisher first met and how the deal came to be.
More “making of” videos will be released by Kalypso Media in the near future. Some of the topics include characters, game development, voice recording and music composing.
For some reason, YouTube isn’t cooperating with us today, but the video in .ZIP format can be downloaded HERE.
Sessler’s Soapbox: Diablo III’s Flaming Fanboys
August 14, 2008
Sessler is back with another interesting edition of Sessler’s Soapbox. This time he’s talking about Diablo III’s flaming fanboys. I agree with him that many gamers have narrow minded views about how games are supposed to be. I agree that the creators of Diablo III have the right to change the game. It does have better graphics and better animation. Adam also mentioned that we’ve only seen about 20 minutes of footage, so we really don’t know how good or bad the title will be at this point. Are people afraid of change like Adam says?
