The NES may be a thing of the distant past, but the games continue to live on. When it comes to various collectibles, Zelda and Mario certainly have more items out there. While surfing Etsy.com I came across these interesting earrings selling for $16.00. There’s only one pair available and they definitely look like an interesting find.

Noel Gallagher has been making some rather odd comments concerning video games lately. A while back, he pretty much blamed violent video games for random stabbings in England. This is what he had to say about Guitar Hero:

“If it puts little plastic guitars into kids’ hands and fires their imaginations, I think that’s a good thing. It’s harmless fun, innit,” he said.

“I’d rather that genre of videogames than somebody getting their fucking head chopped off with a samurai sword while getting fucked by a goblin up the arse with a laser. Do you know what I mean?”

I’m not quite sure if Gallagher says these things because he believes them or because he thinks they are witty. He might be wrong on both accounts, but his statements are always amusing. I’m sure Gallagher will publicly blame video games when the first troll gets abused by a goblin “up the arse with a laser” in real life. Dig Out Your Soul comes out next month and is the 7th Oasis album. Let’s hope it’s at least on the level of Don’t Believe The Truth. I’ll just never like Oasis the way I did their first few albums, but they still put out good music.

We thought we had seen all of the cheap Guitar Hero knockoffs but yet another one pops up.  This time it’s Guitar Praise for the PC.  Unlike other GH knockoffs, this one actually costs more than the real thing with the price tag of $99.95.  You can currently pick up Guitar Hero III (PC) with guitar for about $70.  I guess if you want to rock out with Jesus, you’ll be paying extra.

You can pre-order this game to make sure you get your copy in September from the company website. Here’s their description of the experience:

Grab the guitar and play along with top Christian bands! Shred those riffs or blast the bass…you add a unique sound to the solid Christian rock. But watch out: if you can’t keep up, the artists will take a break and stop the music. Crank it up and try again youll soon be rockin’ with the best while praising the Lord!  Order the second guitar and jam with a friend!

Here’s the playlist via Gizmodo (I haven’t heard of any of these people):

When Assassin’s Creed came out in 2007, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the game.  Looking back on it, I’d say the complaints about AC probably fell into the “Fable problem”.  Basically that means that sometimes a game is so hyped by the media and publisher that you feel cheated once you play the game.  Fable was one of those games I waited years for and felt upset when I finally got my hands on it, even though it was still a pretty good game.  The same thing went for Assassin’s Creed.  I guess I was expecting medieval Sam Fisher assassin on crack and just got a regular medieval assassin experience with a sci-fi twist. With that said, there were still plenty of sites that gave AC praise from the jump.  I simply expected more at the time.

If you didn’t get a chance to play AC, it’s currently selling for $29.99 at GameStop which is truly a steal for what you are getting.  Forget what the critics said back in 2007 because it’s certainly worth 30 dollars now. The game (’Assassin’s Creed’ Director’s Cut) still looks and plays better on the PC, but if Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 is your platform of choice, this is the way to go.

The great things about Assassin’s Creed:

  • The graphics were awesome.  This was perhaps the most visually appealing game of 2007.
  • Sound effects and music were spot on.
  • Environments were huge and made you feel like you were in a real city.
  • The controls were fairly fluid.
  • Free running environment is great for the adventurous type.
  • Missions can be completed through various methods.
  • The main plot was interesting.
The bad things about Assassin’s Creed:
  • The game gets repetitive sometimes.
  • I expected more hands-on action.
  • Combat becomes repetitive and boring.
  • A few AI issues.
  • Repetitive voice overs from various villagers.
  • I would have liked to see more character interaction options.
Basically, that’s the good with the bad.  For $30, you’re getting a game I’d probably give an 8/10 to, so that’s not a bad price at all.  Rumors existed that Assassin’s Creed was the first part of a trilogy, although no new news has surfaced about that recently.  There was a trilogy of books planned by Pocket Books, but they have since abandoned the project.  I’m sure Ubisoft will eventually get us a sequel due to the initial success of the game.  If they made a few changes to the game, it could potentially be one of the greatest games ever.  AC was really not that far off from being truly epic.  I can see where they were going with the game.  Ubisoft made some fundamental errors in their decisions with this game, but it was still a good one.

The kind people at G4 sent us the latest episode of the ‘MMO Report’ in an email. They talk a little about Star Trek Online, which is probably the one thing I want to know the most about in the MMO world right now. Here’s what they had to say:

Once again, The MMO Report comes correct to school your ass with knowledge. And yes, we have been listening to a lot of Run DMC in the office recently. This week, Casey gives you all the information we have on Star Trek Online, brings you a new segment that will tell you where to look for those over-priced figures you spend your hard earned dollars on, and about an MMO boss that takes 24 hours to take down. That is what I call dedication.

I recently stumbled across the following video on YouTube and assumed it was meant to be a spoof or joke, but it’s actually a real product that can be ordered. The inappropriately named $15 stuffed boob bear basically attaches to your seatbelt to prevent it from cutting into your boobs. While you might assume this is for women only, I’m sure it could be useful for guys with man boobs. Check out the video! It’s the funniest thing I have seen all day and it’s actually a real life product.

I just finished “bashing” the Wii with my last article but now I have some good things to talk about. Many people are talking about Mad World coming to the Wii and they aren’t all happy about it. Some people think it shouldn’t be coming to a “family friendly” system. I say “to hell” with that notion. Freedom is a great thing and if they don’t like the game, don’t buy the game. It’s that simple. From what I’ve seen, Mad World may actually turn out to be a pretty good game. We’re certainly not looking at another rubbish title like ‘Manhunt 2′.

We’d like to know what you think about ‘Mad World’ so far. Is it a good thing it’s headed to the Wii?

If you have followed my writing over the past few years, you wouldn’t be surprised to find out that I’m not the biggest Nintendo Wii fan on the planet. When I hear people talking about how it’s the greatest console ever, I just find it extremely difficult to understand how they could possibly think this. Nintendo fanboys sometimes remind me of women with battered person syndrome. The Wii is basically like a busted crack head who beats his wife (the Nintendo Wii fanboy) yet she still loves him for some reason. It simply does not make the least bit of sense. Don’t take my post too personal. I still enjoy certain aspects of the Wii. I just find that it’s a highly flawed system that receives far more kudos than it should have.

The title pretty much says it all. Five teenagers were arrested in Chicago for breaking into a video game store and looting merchandise. The strange part is that two of the criminals nearly escaped the scene, but they asked police officers for a ride home and that’s how they were caught.

I’m not sure if these guys were gamers or not, but they ceratainly need to play a little more Grand Theft Auto IV. They could probably learn a thing or two from our good friend Niko Bellic when it comes to the proper way s of evading police. These guys may actually make our list of “world’s dumbest gamer criminals”.

We decided to use the Beta image of Niko above because these guys don’t deserve the real thing.

I’m not sure what the hell is wrong with the editors of Vogue magazine, but they now have an issue out with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) posing buck naked with a horse. This isn’t the first time Radcliffe posed naked with animals and we’re honestly tired of it and think this whole naked with animals thing needs to come to a swift end. To make things even worse, this article in the magazine was written to help promote a play in which the actor simulates sexual ecstasy while riding a horse naked. So basically we have a 17 year-old (borderline child porn) in a play that involves animal love or “bestiality” as the pervs like to call it and somehow this is “ok” with everyone. Even though he’s probably too old at this point, I’d rather see Radcliffe to go back to doing Harry Potter or some non-zoophilic role that isn’t so disturbing.
