Looks Like ‘GTA IV’ is HUGELY Popular

August 21, 2008

While it comes as no surprise that a game with “Grand Theft Auto” in the title would go on to sell millions upon millions, it does come as a bit of a surprise that it has beaten ALL of Nintendo’s console offerings, saleswise.

NPD has reported that Grand Theft Auto IV has gone and sold a cool $6,293,000 in North America and Europe (the game will be out shortly in Japan). Followed closely by Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and Guitar Hero III, in order.

August 18, 2008

It looks like Japan will FINALLY get their release date for Grand Theft Auto 4.  On October 30, expect to pick up your very own copy of GTA IV for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3.  I’m sure there will be another “burst” in sales for the game of course and consoles.  GTA IV IS a console seller!

3 Teens Arrested; Claim “Grand Theft Auto Taught Them About Molotov Cocktails”

August 7, 2008

Three teenagers were arrested in Fulton County, Georgia this week and were charged with 57 felony counts after they firebombed 3 cars with molotav cocktails.  According to the report, the teens are claiming they learned “how to do it” from playing Grand Theft Auto games.  I’m sure the anti-game groups will try to use this situation to fuel their fire, but it’s an absurd claim by the teens.  The last time I checked, no game in the GTA series teaches you how to create a molotav cocktail.  With our without video games, these are simply bad kids.  They more than likely made the claim thinking it could be used as some sort of defense in court.  Let’s just hope the Fulton County judge who hears their case has no mercy on them.  I’m not sure what else to say about the situation.  It does seem that as a society we have completely forgotten to teach youth about personal accountability.  Criminals continue to blame everything but themselves for the crimes they take part in…

Grand Theft Auto IV PC Version On Shelves November 18

August 7, 2008

PC gamers don’t have much longer to wait for Grand Theft Auto IV. The game will be hitting shelves on November 18th and 21st in North America and Europe respectively. For more information on the game, visit http://www.rockstargames.com/IV.  While I think it’s a little late in the game for anyone to get extremely excited about a PC release of GTA IV, we can always hope that the mod community finds a way to make the PC version exciting.

We’ve All Heard it, The Wilhelm Scream: Video Games [UPDATED]

June 29, 2008

The faint yell you’ve heard in ALL 6 Star Wars films is the legendary scream called ‘The Wilhelm Scream’. After playing Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid 4 and God of War I and II, I can confirm the infamous scream is also in video games. After reading up on the history of ‘The Wilhelm Scream’ it seems it has been used in 170 movies, 15 TV shows and 26 38 37 48 53 56 Video Games. That sound is so noticeable that when I hear it on any media, I’ll instantly look at my wife for confirmation. Then we both ask “This movie has it too?”

Below are the list of video games that include ‘The Wilhelm Scream’:

  1. Asterix at the Olympic Games
  2. Ant City (When someone is run over by a car.)
  3. Army Of Two (During the China cutscene)

Poll: Will ‘Saints Row 2′ Be Better Than GTA IV?

June 10, 2008

We’re certainly looking forward to Saints Row 2 here at Kezins.com.  So far, it looks like the title will have more to offer than Grand Theft Auto IV did in some ways.  The latest SR2 trailer poked fun at the activities in GTA IV.  While the video is a brilliant piece of marketing, there may be a little truth to it.  I’d certainly rather steal a sewage truck and spray it on innocent pedestrians than waste my time bowling with  Roman.  The question in my mind is “how will the graphics end up looking and how smooth will the game play?” The game doesn’t even come out until October, so I’m not sure how much competition it will have with GTA IV, but I am sure that the title will be analyzed and compared to GTA in every aspect.  From what I’ve seen so far, Saints Row 2 may actually be a great title.  Will it be better than GTA IV?  At this point, I’d still say “no”.  What do you guys think?

THQ Pokes Fun At GTA IV

June 6, 2008

The new Saints Row 2 trailer from THQ pokes fun at the silly activities in Grand Theft Auto IV.  The original Saints Row was a pretty good GTA knockoff and so far it looks like SR2 may actually be even better than the original, with tons of things to do.  Will the new title be better than GTA IV?  I don’t think so, but it’s going to be a must-buy title for anyone into these kinds of games.

Two Weeks til Metal Gear Solid 4

May 27, 2008

On Thursday, June 12th, 2008 all PS3’s will eject their copies of Grand Theft Auto 4, and put in Metal Gear Solid 4. Since the original Metal Gear Solid was one of the first games that made a huge impact on the PlayStation One, you can expect MGS4 to do the same for the PlayStation Three.

The below video is a teaser movie trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4. It was done with a blockbuster movie approach, and was done quite well. Heck, even the deep voiced guy still gives me the cool “ohh, I want to see that” feeling.
