With the upcoming release of MegaMan 9 on the “Big 3″ consoles, will the 2D style graphics hold up?
MegaMan 9 will be THE first game to join Nintendo’s Wiiware, Xbox’s Live Arcade and PlayStation 3’s PSN. With the processor, memory and video cards these consoles posses why did Capcom select to go with their 2D graphics? My guess is that retro gaming STILL sells. As much as developers are trying to create the next Mario or Sonic gamers love where there roots began… back in the day.
MegaMan has always been an 8-bit classic, so I bet their release of MegaMan 9 will have those “old-timers” cracking their knuckles and ready to show the new bloods how to game. Nintendo first showed up MegaMan on the NES, but where will MegaMan succeed? Will it be the underdeveloped Wii? The pay for service XBLA? Or the supercomputer PS3?
While you ponder on these questions, check out Capcom’s latest screens. I’m sure they’ll get you to reminisce the 90’s.

Some may think that portable gaming already has enough puzzle games, but I believe there’s certainly room for ‘Colour Cross’, the paint-by-numbers style puzzle-strategy game for the Nintendo DS. The game by Rising Star will include 150 puzzles and should keep any casual gamer happy for many hours. The game should be on shelves in November. I have yet to see any gameplay footage, but I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. Feel free to drop a link in comments below if you know where to find it. New screens were recently sent out and we have posted them below:

I haven’t had the chance to check out ‘Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory’, but the assets I receive always seem to be interesting. Today, three new images surfaced showing off some unit pics from the game. Fans of the Sudden Strike series may be pleased to find out that the new game has gone to a 3D style engine. Some people may need to upgrade their computers if they plan to enjoy this one. Most reports state that the game plays sluggish on dated systems. It looks like 3Ghz will be the standard for playing this title.

Was Brett Favre’s decision to return influenced by his Madden 2009 Cover Photo?
As you may already heard, Brett Favre is trying to make a comeback. He currently has not reported to any camp yet, including his former team the Green bay Packers. The couple of teams that have shown interest are the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Bucs. Since April 24th, when Brett was announced the new cover athlete for Madden 09, minor rumblings began about his return. Could the video game football franchise have possibly influenced his return? If he DOES play this upcoming year, I say it helped! We have new screens of Madden 2009, and boy do they look good. Here are some of the new features you can expect to see this year:
New Features
Madden IQ system: players train in a holographic environment, which grants them a “Madden IQ” based on their practice in 12 different drills. The game’s difficulty adjusts itself to the player’s Madden IQ.
EA Sports Backtrack: the game analyzes the player’s playing ability and points out mistakes during gameplay a la a television-styled telestrator
Improved online leagues: server-based leagues, supporting up to 32 players, with full schedules including the playoffs and the Super Bowl as well as draft and trade support. Schedules can be played in a round-robin style as well.
Revamped graphics: Improved stadium models, new weather particle system, new lighting models, new player models, field goal nets, improved sidelines, user-controlled celebrations, clear visors, new facemask designs, and Total Control animation system.
Improved gameplay: Offensive line slide protection, smart routes, realistic fatigue, improved gang tackles, true penalty based animations, formation substitutions, new fumble system (weather affects it), new player weapon types and the ability to return short field goals.
Revamped franchise mode: Simulated stats have been improved (e.g. fewer running backs gaining 2,000+ yards in one season), rivalry games have special value and played games have more crowd and television intensity.
On-demand picture-in-picture play-call window: Picture-in-picture style interface to allow the player to see key information and call plays and formations without leaving the current window.
New Dynamic Camera System: The new camera system moves with your receivers so they will never fall out of view during gameplay. The camera automatically pans out, zooms in, and adjusts angles to keep the receivers in screen. Once you complete that pass, if the ball carrier happens to break away from his defenders, the ActionCam will rock back and forth, zoom in and follow the ball carrier, giving you that intense feeling that you’re sprinting alongside him. And if a defender happens to really lay into the ball carrier, the Big Hit Camera will rattle the screen with the force of the crunch.
New Tackling Engine & Animations
New Running/Ball-Carrier Engine: total control system, new transition system, character grounding with foot-plant, new procedural animation system, realistic momentum, new locomotion system, improved visuals and animations, left and right stick moves, directional diving

If you’re looking for the next ‘Illegally stuffed gloves’ ‘FUN’ boxing game, Facebreakers, for the PS3, Wii, and X360, is it. It has the style of Ready 2 Rumble with the same team that developed Fight Night Round 3. Rumor has it that ‘Facebreakers’ was the reason Nintendo is “supposedly” working on Punch Out!!! Wii. We’ve supplied some screens that promise good graphics with scary looking characters. That Papa Shango guy gives me the heebie jeebies.

[Editor’s Note: Walking down the aisles of your favorite retailer you’ll see movies that you’ve never heard of. Even if you’d like to know how they fare no one cares enough to review them! That’s where “Movie Watch” comes in…oh, and we’ll try to cover movies on Xbox Live from time to time. Because if you’re gonna spend those confusing Microsoft points on something other than games, it better be worth it, right?]
“Batman - Gotham Knight” ditches the cheesy Saturday morning cartoon demeanor and goes for a much darker and, consequently, deeper story spread out in different anime-inspired episodes that serves as the middleman between “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight.” Is it worth the price of admission?

You’re probably wondering why Flavor of Love’s Candance “Black” Cabrera is dressed up as a ninja warrior. I discovered this photo in my inbox today when I received the Urban Gamer Report #27 from the Konsole Kingz. My best guess is that they have done a Ninja Gaiden style photoshoot with her and we’ll probably see an XBL theme of Candace in the near future. I’ll keep checking their blog each day to see what they have in store for us.

I didn’t realize strip poker games were still popular, but obviously I was wrong. Red Lips Games has released two screens from their new game ‘Western Strip Poker’. The game is available via digital download from the Red Lips Games site. The game is available for Windows or Mac. Western Strip Poker is a new remake of the classic computer poker games designed in an old style “wild west era”. Two screens have recently surfaced from the game and are located below. For those of you expecting nude screens, you have to purchase the game and prove your age to see that.

Where would video game hype be these days without a little game inspired wallpaper for your desktop? I have skimmed through hundreds of cheesy wallpapers for GTA IV and finally found a site with some high quality ones worth downloading. 360 Style really came through this time with some great downloads. The sample sheet is located below. If you’d like to download some of them, check out their wallpaper page HERE! Personally I like them better than the ones Rockstar Games put out.
