Razer Maelstrom Audio Engine Unveiled at Games Convention

August 19, 2008

One of the coolest items to come out of the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany has to be Razer’s ‘Maelstrom Audio Engine’. The Razer Maelstrom is a highly upgraded virtual surround sound system found in the Razer Megalodon™, Razer’s latest 7.1 surround sound gaming headset. These bad boys process positional audio 800% faster than comparable products. For $149.99 they may seem like a steep purchase for gaming, but any audio enthusiast will see this as a pretty good buy.

Snoop Dogg Gone Country

June 20, 2008

Snoop is finding ways to make sure every human knows who he is one way or another. The guy did a country song with twangs and all. For a California brother, it ain’t half-bad. Country’s been imitating for so long, it’s not like the genre has a clear sound anymore, which opens the way for people like Snoop Dog and Jessica Simpson to break in. Snoop is well on his way to country stardom. His wife is getting in on the action too, with her drunk driving arrest this past weekend. Go ahead Snoop. I ain’t mad at ya. Especially when you team up with Willie Nelson. Much better than Nelly’s team up with Tim McGraw. Listen to Snoop Dog and Willie Nelson right here: http://perezhilton.com/2008-06-18-this-is-not-a-joke-40.

Audiosurf Song Of The Week

June 17, 2008

We kick off the continuation of Audiosurf Song of the Week-series with the Swedish, post-hardcore act, Cult of Luna. Today is the European release date (July 16 for America) for their fifth studio album, Eternal Kingdom, and so it seems fitting to recommend a song to surf along to, and let your mind and emotions just slip away…

The song “Dim” on their fourth effort, Somewhere Along the Highway, is perhaps their softest song to date, and is a journey well worth taking. A track off of the latest album has not been deciphered yet and approved Audiosurf material; it seems like the songs are not as fitting as they are on the other albums. Hit the break for more on Cult of Luna, song recommendations and similar artists. [Read more]

Ninja Warrior: The Game

June 10, 2008

We’ve been waiting a while for the Ninja Warrior video game and it’s finally here. While it does provide a little challenge, the game itself probably should have been tweaked a little more before being released. For a free flash game, there’s really not much I can complain about though. The sound effects are interesting and certainly get you in the Ninja Warrior mood. Any fan of the show will probably find this game enjoying for short bursts.  Being good at the game completely depends on your ability to time jumps.  When jumping over a gap, you almost have to press the space bar after you have already stepped off the edge.

R.B.I. Baseball Headed To Xbox 360

May 27, 2008

Who could possibly forget R.B.I. Baseball from the NES? It looks like the old title might be headed to the Xbox 360. I highly doubt this will be a full retail release, leaving us with the idea that it could be a new XBLA (Xbox LIVE Arcade) title headed our way in the future.  We’re hoping it ends up being a modern remake with updated graphics and sound.  We snagged the above image from the ESRB website, which is a great place to find out what games are currently being developed.

Pitfall: Then… Now!

May 15, 2008

Pitfall sure has come a long way from the era that was. The sound of the Tarzan’s yell as you swung from a rope over quicksand, alligators and a “black hole” (ooohh scary) never sounded so good. Then along came the NEW Pitfall, and I’m hoping to hear the sweet sounds of a 21st century, Indiana Jones look-a-like without the whip on the Wii. That said the original Pitfall sold more than 4 million copies on Atari 2600, don’t believe me check it here.
