Hitting Xbox Live on February 17

Sure, they missed the rumored November launch for the Grand Theft Auto IV DLC, but Rockstar has put an end to that web of lies today. The first downloadable pack for the game, entitled “Lost and Damned,” will be out on February 17, 2009 (Hey, same day as Street Fighter IV!).

The developer sent out a press release with a few screenshots (one of which you can see above) and will revolve around a new character and story thread. Interesting to see them expand on the universe a bit more through a new set of eyes. We’ll see how it pans out when the first of two exclusive, 360 episodes hits next year.

Funny. Lately, breaking game news have avoided big name sites and are brought to light via forum dwellers. A prime example is NeoGaf, a glorified community post site, that has attracted the likes of Denis Dyack — as well as other developers — in defending their titles against the vocal minority.

Earlier today they brought us a few details about the next GTA game that is, surprisingly, coming out on the DS. Poster “botticus” lets us know of a few bullet points found in the upcoming issue of Nintendo Power: Continue reading »

We’re not really sure at this point what exactly is going on with residents in Liberty City and San Andreas, but it’s obvious that they have been exposed to some type of radioactive substances. G4 recently uncovered some interesting photos documenting the abnormal physical features of two residents.

First it was a six-fingered hooker in Liberty City and now they have discovered a gang banger in San Andreas who uses his thumb as a trigger finger.  WTF?  Was this intentional on the part of RockStar? We may never know…

Many a night I search the Internets looking for that next “hidden treasure”.  Well you guys tell me, but I think I found a doozie here myself.  Upon searching for RockStar links, (since all the craze is GTA IV), I stumbled upon this timer for GTA2.  The date above the link is the day I visited, but what is the date below? Now, there’s been no official word as to what the timer is clocking down to, but the rumors are flying here among our staff.

Check out the official site here, and tell me what YOU think it leads to…

In a recent interview with Microsoft product management director Aaron Greenberg, Gamasutra caught up with the spokesperson just in time to do some post-NPD talking.

Unsurprisingly, Greenberg goes on about attach rates, getting to the 10 millions system served mark, and console “with the most games, and the biggest online community.” Simply turning the cogs of that spin machine, but in what’s surely to set aflame the fanboy community, Greenberg said the following about GTA IV DLC turning up on PS3:

“It’s not possible as far as I’m aware, but that would be a good question to ask Rockstar. Rockstar and Xbox have only said there are exclusive episodes coming this fall to Xbox 360. I might put that up for a bit of wishful thinking on their end.”

Hmm…just “exclusive episodes,” huh? We might just see something along the lines of DLC for GTA IV on PS3, after all.

There’s a new patch for GTA IV on the PS3. There’s only a small problem… The Patch didn’t fix the freezing issue. You’ll find this update available when you launch GTA IV and log into your PSN. Our viewers sent us tips, that they are still experiencing freezing issues. Here’s what the update was supposed to relieve straight from RockStar’s keyboards:

“Rockstar Games has released a GTA IV patch for Playstation 3 today that prevents Gamespy’s servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up. We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary. We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment experiences possible. This update will ensure that everyone will experience Grand Theft Auto IV the way it was intended. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.”

This can only mean two things, RockStar will ask PS3 gamers to buy another version of GTA IV, since it may now be the disc, or please be patient while we work on the issue. (Please note, there is sarcasm oozing out from my first resolution)

This morning exclusively on 92.3 K-Rock in New York, the infamous Lazlow visited our favorite shock jocks Opie and Anthony to discuss all the new features we all can expect to see on April 29th. This will be O&A’s 2nd appearance in the GTA series. In the game, they discussed how Opie is a 24 yr old, who’s not taken serious and Anthony is a 40 year old mobster with a great voice. Other cast members in the show are Steve, Danny, Jim Norton, Than and Big A. This morning they visited a Russian strip club named “Honkers”. Lazlow mentioned how there is an in-game internet which will allow you to search the web for news, blogs and the even have a crapslist (spoof on craigslist). He also said that the in-game news will be dependent on what missions you’ve taken. For instance, if you happen to blow up a warehouse in downtown Bronx you can bet your bottom dollar that will make the in-game internet news. If you have a psycho girlfriend in the game, expect to receive email from her too.

Below is the latest European television commercial for Grand Theft Auto IV. As we get closer to release date, the hype machine will certainly continue to grow. Unlike other hyped games, I don’t seem to mind anything I can get my hands on concerning GTA IV. RockStar will certainly be making a ton of money off this release.

Help me out man!

“Badgers? Badgers? I don’t need no stinking Badgers!”

This is great news for those of us that are anticipating the release of GTAIV. Throw in the fact that you will have DLC through Home unlockables, and it just makes us cry with joy. Now I know that Microsoft has secured some exclusive content on the Xbox360, but you know Sony was not going to stay quiet.

Below is the article from PlayStation World (PSW) describing the Downloadable Content (DLC) for the PS3. A couple ideas have floated around, like downloading soundtracks from previous GTA’s. Or how about playing GTA and GTA 2 through Playstation Home. That’s what I’m talking about Baby. I mean RockStar has been allowing people to download those games for free through their website.
