It’s not much of a confirmation or specific release date, but the above paragraph is what you see after registering for the free 20 songs Harmonix/EA/MTV/Whoever promised Rock Band 2 owners in the back of the game’s manual.

It gives you the option to suggest songs you’d want to download. We’d say root for some Kings of Leon, more Strokes, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur, Jr. and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. We think its a good idea. Yup.

Register here.

For those of us currently enjoying rockin’ out in Rock Band 2 on Xbox 360 (and everyone else in Rock Band 1) comes a bit of surprising news. AC/DC, to coincide with their latest album, Black Ice, are releasing the “AC/DC Rock Band Pack” for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii ($39.88) and PS2 ($29.88) on November 2 — November 16 on Wii.

We say surprising because it will only be available at Wal-Mart in-store with no option to download online. The other thing is that it’s pretty damn pricey — especially if you don’t like all of the songs on the disc. You’ll have the option to export into your hard drive, which is cool, but hopefully not at an expense. Will you guys be picking it up?

Full track listing after the break. Continue reading »

Title: Rock Band 2

Developer: Harmonix

Platforms: X360, PS3, Wii, PS2

Release Dates: Sept. 15th (X360), Quarter 4 (PS3, Wii, PS2)

We all have been hearing the songs that will be available on Rock Band 2. So I decided to use this post to set the record straight. Just recently we also caught wind that for a small fee of $4.99, you’ll be able to copy all 55 songs, except Metallica “Enter Sandman”, Black Sabbath “Paranoid” and Tokio Hotel “Monsoon” from Rock Band 1 to your console in order to play them on Rock Band 2. In our podcast, I asked Carlos about the benefit and he mentioned the ability to play all your songs from one location. I’ll give him that, but to pay an additional $5 for convience annoys me.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

We thought we had seen all of the cheap Guitar Hero knockoffs but yet another one pops up.  This time it’s Guitar Praise for the PC.  Unlike other GH knockoffs, this one actually costs more than the real thing with the price tag of $99.95.  You can currently pick up Guitar Hero III (PC) with guitar for about $70.  I guess if you want to rock out with Jesus, you’ll be paying extra.

You can pre-order this game to make sure you get your copy in September from the company website. Here’s their description of the experience:

Grab the guitar and play along with top Christian bands! Shred those riffs or blast the bass…you add a unique sound to the solid Christian rock. But watch out: if you can’t keep up, the artists will take a break and stop the music. Crank it up and try again youll soon be rockin’ with the best while praising the Lord!  Order the second guitar and jam with a friend!

Here’s the playlist via Gizmodo (I haven’t heard of any of these people):

If you haven’t seen ‘The Dark Knight’ yet I assume you are living under a rock.  While checking out Comcast’s site, I discovered a wealth of information and exclusives on the film.  If you like free web games, the ‘Dark Knight’ videogame on Comcast is worth a play.  ’The Dark Knight’ has been a great film for debate on our site, as some people feel it was one of the greatest movies ever made, while others didn’t share the same enthusiasm.  Regardless, the film is certainly a fascinating story worth looking into.

Just visit http://www.comcast.net/thedarkknightmovie/#/videos/exclusives for 6 exclusive videos including cast interviews with Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal and more that you won’t be able to find anywhere else!

Overclocked Remix decide to offer gamers “Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream”. The album features free fan arrangements of FF songs with over 45 tracks from 40 various artists, all based on the official FF VII soundtrack.  While fan-made albums are often terrible, this one is certainly worth the free download.  In many ways, it’s superior to the official product.

The styles include jazz, new age, techno, rock and classical. In other words, there’s something for everyone on Voices of the Lifestream.  If you love music and love Final Fantasy, there’s no reason not to download this!  You can download this album at FF7:VotL Torrent (2.32GB).

I’d like to thank Shawn of Gaming Today for discovering this gem.

In tribute of this past weeks announcement of Mega Man 9, we’re going back to 1987 to bring you how it all started… Mega Man part uno.  Known to some as Rockman, Megaman, developed by Capcom, was a side scrolling action NES game.  Mega Man was the only NES Mega Man title to feature a score counter.  I consider Mega Man to be one of the first strategic games due to the Robot Master attributes you gain after you defeat them.  For ex. The easiest way to kill CutMan relies not in your Mega Buster, but in your Super Arm that you got from GutsMan in the last stage.

Characters

  • Mega Man — Tool assistant, originally known as Rock (or Mega in the remake), created and modified by Dr. Light to combat Wily.
  • Dr. Albert W. Wily — The antagonist of the game, his goal is world domination. He appears as the final boss in a hovering ship (at first a tank-like machine in the remake).
  • Dr. Thomas Light — Creator of Mega Man, aids Mega Man on his adventure to stop Dr. Wily.
  • Roll — Mega Man’s sister, she makes her debut in this game, though in the NES version her name is not mentioned. She is only seen at the ending of the credits in the NES version, but she can be downloaded in the PSP remake as a playable character.
  • Robot Masters — Cutman, Gutsman, Elecman, Fireman, Iceman, and Bombman.

Mega Man is made up of six stages, with a Robot Master at the end guarding a weapon. The stage select screen allows the player to choose from these six stages, and when they are all completed, the seventh and last stage appears in the middle of the menu, replacing the text “Stage Select, Press Start”. This last stage is in fact more like four regular stages linked together, some a bit shorter than average, but with bosses that are considered harder than usual.

Mega Man 9 is due out on the XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.  We’ll keep you updated with all the news “Mega Man 9″ related.
