For those of you lucky PlayStation Underground members, you should have received your Home Beta invitation via email.

PlayStation sent out an invitation to most PlayStation Underground members today informing them of the open PlayStation Home Beta testing. If you were lucky enough to be chosen, head on over to account management through PSN and redeem your voucher. You’ll soon see the 77mb install, but PlayStation Home also requires close to 4gb of your hard earned disk space. So unless you upgraded to a 320gb harddrive you better start clearing out those old demos.
For those wondering, of course I got an invitation. I’m on the secret board of PS3′ers. shhhh.

Joining the ever popular list of digital downloads, Capcom will have their own section on the PlayStation Network.

For those wondering what new items you’ll see on the PlayStation Network, you’ll be treated to everything that is Capcom. All of Capcom’s digital downloads, demo’s, themes etc. will be located within the “capcom Department”. Not only will this be a huge bonus to PSN fans, but expect future exclusives brought to you courtesy of Capcom.
Within this “Capcom Store”, you’ll be able to browse through all Capcom digital content available from PlayStation Network. Once inside the Capcom category, you will notice that all their content is sorted by title. This allows you easy access to view all content related to a particular game. PlayStation 3 fans, today is THE demo day you’ve been waiting for. Mirror’s Edge arrives on the PSN! Xbox Live members will get the demo on Halloween (Oct. 31st)

Releasing on November 11th in North America, Mirror’s Edge is a First Person shooter (FPS) powered by the Unreal Engine 3 with the addition of new lighting, developed by DICE. Mirror’s Edge aims to “convey the strain and physical contact with the environment”, according to senior producer Owen O’Brien, and to instill a freedom of movement not yet seen in the first-person genre.

Tower defense on the moon, who’d have thunk it? PlayStation Network defends against Moon creatures with ‘Savage Moon’.
It seems like the folks over at Sony are testing our strategic gaming ways, with another tower defense PlayStation Network title. You guys might recall a previous title on the PSN, Pixel Junk Monsters, well Savage Moon has you defending a remote mining location located on “Imoon” from attack waves made by different enemy creatures, known as Insectocytes, who are trying to wipe out the facility.
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA)
Developer: FluffyLogic
Platform: PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) via PLAYSTATION®Network
Genre: Action-strategy
Players: Single-player Gameplay
Release: November 2008
Many are calling Savage Moon a mix between Starcraft and Pixel Junk Monsters. I had to use a PSN example, jeez, don’t shoot the messenger. More screens below, you heathens:

The fast-paced, futuristic racer makes us wish real flying were this cool! WipEout HD has something in it’s back pocket… 1080p and 5.1 Dolby Digital. F-Zero-esque?

I seriously thought Techno Music went out with Z Cavaricci’s. Apparently not if it’s 5.1 Dolby Digital Techno Music. And the pixels, ohh the pixels. WipEout HD is beautiful. The quality of this game blows my mind for a PSN title. Online challenges and Campaign mode are both entertaining. Heck, you can even upload your own tracks and race listening to “Chocolate Rain”. Have to admit, I never played any previous versions of WipEout before. Maybe a bit of WipEout 64, but it was at a friends house and I had Peanut Butter all over my hands so I gave up the controller after the first turn. When I downloaded WipEout HD from the PSN, I had no idea what to expect. Beside it being a futuristic racing game… wiseguy.

Available now on the PlayStation Network, Jeopardy! puts you into the hot seat… a virtual hot seat!

When was the last time you were asked “This ’stately’ dessert consists of sponge cake, ice cream & meringue, & is baked hot for 5 minutes?”. (answer it in comments) Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) answers “$14.99 Trivia Game on the PSN”, “What is Jeopardy!?”. Sometimes a good trivia game will remind you just how smart, or un-smart you really are. I’ll break down, “The Good” - Jeopardy!, “The Bad” - Double Jeopardy! and a final score - Final Jeopardy!

Yeah, that means Sony will not let you watch all those movies you’ve “borrowed” off the interwebs and stream them to your friends at the same time. It seemed a little too good to be true when it was announced but Wired lets us know that the feature has been axed…at least with this year’s release of Home.
The reason Microsoft can do video streaming is that it avoids legal issues by teaming up with Netflix — which already deals with film rights — in its upcoming dashboard update for the Xbox 360. We’ll have to see if Sony takes a similar approach or avoids it altogether in future updates to their social network.

The new entry in the series will contain a big overhaul with five game modes, eight tracks, eight-player multiplayer and, for the tech savvy, 1080p support, 60 FPS, 5.1 soundtrack, and you’ll be able to crank out your own tunes with a custom soundtrack.
