Gaming consoles, PC’s or Cell phones, 99% of Boys and 94% of Girls play Video Game on a regular basis.

A recent study, conducted by Pew Internet & American Life Project, has found that 99 percent of boys and 94 percent of girls play video games on a regular basis. Half of the 1,102 kids, ages 12 to 17, polled had played one within the last 24 hours.

So I guess the good old days of playing tag is really long gone.  Teens obviously represent a good portion of the gaming industries clientelle.  This comes to no surprise to anyone who plays online video games such as Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4.  The games are pouring with young voices and with potty mouths nonetheless.  The primary finding based on 1,102 includes 12-17 year olds.

Within the same study, half the boys surveyed listed a game rated by the industry’s system as “mature” as one of their favorites.  I’ve always said, you can put any rating system you want on a game.  Kids will play them.  Heck, I did!

Is gaming a social or anti-social activity?

I’m sure many of you are fans of the ‘Girls of Gaming’ by Play Magazine. I was doing a little research on the magazine for a future article and was surprised that the top search result for “Girls of Gaming” in Google led to a pirated version of the magazine on Scribd. Since the actual paid version of the magazine does not allow sharing of the file, it looks like some noob took some fairly poor screen captures of the PDF and turned it into a version anyone can download on the internet. I suppose the title might suggest we support pirating, which we actually don’t. But…if you are going to be a pirate, at least be a good one. If you want quality, just go and download the real thing HERE, but you have to actually pay real money to see it.

Old-school SEGA Saturn players might remember a cool game titled ‘Death Tank’.  It was actually a hidden game inside Duke Nukem 3D (Death Tank Zwei) and PowerSlave (Death Tank).  Although it was simple, it was hours and hours of fun.  The XBLA version will have numerous upgrades and 4-player online play.  The basic premise of the game is to take out enemy tanks on the landscape before they take you out.  It’s a lot like classic Battleship because it was turn-based.  If you missed, you’d basically just have to sit back and wait to see if they hit you.  While some may consider this an unrealistic aspect, I felt it added to the suspense.  If you like Scorched Earth or Worms, this is your kind of game.

I’ve seen some great Zelda pieces over the years, and this has to be up there with the best. ‘Ocarina of Time’ was perhaps the best of all Zelda games and the Sheik had a little something to do with that.  The character is as mysterious now as he was back then.  ”The Sheik” by First4Figures is currently selling for $99.90 on Play-Asia and will probably not remain on the site for too long. “Dates-wise I also discovered that the first piece of GTA downloadable content will be arriving in November as well. Very little details were given but I was assured it would be sizable bringing roughly 15 hours of additional play time.” - Chris from RPG-TV

Kotaku pointed us to the above RPG-TV blog which gives us a clearer picture of when we can hope to get some more Grand Theft Auto’ing done.

Rockstar has previously stated that it would break a few price barriers when they released the exclusive Xbox 360 DLC this fall and, if the above is accurate, it looks like gamers will get their full money’s worth.

Would you guys mind paying more than premium prices (likely above $30) for an additional 15 hours of GTA IV content?

I never thought I’d see the day where I thought a multi-platform game was better on the Wii than the Xbox 360 or Sony PS3, but that day has come. Although the game has a different title and has different features, I feel like it’s still something I needed to compare to the 360/PS3 version. I recently reviewed Madden NFL 09 for the Xbox 360 and felt it wasn’t the great game everyone was giving it credit for. My primary issues with the game was lag, the game freezing, game glitches and numerous problems with the AI.

There is no secret that the NES is one of the most successful gaming consoles EVER made. Just because you don’t have Nintendo Cartridges to blow into and carefully put it into your NES to play Zelda doesn’t mean you can’t. Well my followers, put down that Nestle Quik and comb your head because the NES will come to YOU! One of our favorite sites to play all those classic NES games is VirtualNES.

Why not hop on over and check out their list of games, only problem is there is no controller and the keyboard can be cumbersome. It’ll remind you of you past and those games you wish you never traded.

I’m not sure what the hell is wrong with the editors of Vogue magazine, but they now have an issue out with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) posing buck naked with a horse. This isn’t the first time Radcliffe posed naked with animals and we’re honestly tired of it and think this whole naked with animals thing needs to come to a swift end. To make things even worse, this article in the magazine was written to help promote a play in which the actor simulates sexual ecstasy while riding a horse naked. So basically we have a 17 year-old (borderline child porn) in a play that involves animal love or “bestiality” as the pervs like to call it and somehow this is “ok” with everyone. Even though he’s probably too old at this point, I’d rather see Radcliffe to go back to doing Harry Potter or some non-zoophilic role that isn’t so disturbing.

Release Date: July 29, 2008
Platform: Xbox 360, PS3
Developer: Project Soul
Publisher: Namco Bandai
Genre: Weapons-based 3D Fighting
Players: 1-2 Players; Local and Online
MSRP: $59.99
ESRB Rating: Teen Adolescents

The soul swords never seem to take a break as Namco Bandai keeps bringing them back into the fold with every iteration of the Soulcalibur series. Fortunately, Soulcalibur IV lives up to its namesake and brings with it an online mode (finally!), tunes up the fighting mechanics a bit, and, of course, takes breast-bouncing technology to a new height.

Gameplay

SCIV enters next-gen systems with the same four-button system as before and, as fans will be surprised to see, slows the action down a bit to create more balanced, strategic fights. Also, some of the characters’ moves list and play styles have been altered. Subtle, but noticeable, and veterans of the series might have some adjusting to do.

Single player is never the main focus in fighting games, but Namco Bandai has always done well with their games’ console renditions and SCIV is no different by giving you a story mode, “Tower of Lost Souls,” a deep and varied “Character Creation,” and online play.

Gold is the main currency which can be easily obtained to unlock characters and other bonuses. Kudos to Project Soul for making it possible to unlock most of the characters within the first hour of playtime with the game.
