Valve gave us the greatest value in gaming with last year’s Orange Box — where the entire Half-Life 2 saga, so far, made an appearance — including the short and sweet Portal. Maybe a little too short as a mod was released today that will let you play through a “prelude” of the cake-filled story.

As the site states, Portal: Prelude is an “unofficial prequel,” and has been nine months in the making. Unfortunately, only PC gamers get to have fun with this fan-made extension to the game and can download it here.

Video Game Releases 10/6

This week was kind of lame in game releases so we admit, yes, we kind of forgot (oops!) about our weekly “drop” report. Please, don’t spear us — “Ice Age” reference.

For those of you playing on PC exclusively, Hell’s Highway should be fun and…well, some big basketball games coming out this week. Choose between NBA Live and NBA 2K9. Other than that, you’re better off saving those pennies you turned into cash at the coin machine for next week.

Full list of games dropping this week after the break… Continue reading »

Computer and Video Games has let us know that we’ll be seeing the official announcement of the next KOTOR game in a “matter of weeks.” We’ve reported on this before, but we’ll finally be able to (hopefully!) see a few more concrete details in the near future.

The first two games were incredibly fun to play and proved that with proper care a great RPG could be made out of the “Star Wars” universe. KOTOR II was developed by Obsidian and this new MMO — from what we’ve heard — will have the original team, Bioware, back at the helm.

Might even get this writer to finally try an MMO.

New screens from Ceville have hit the net to show off some of the progress being made with the development. We’re trying out a new way to show slides on our site with the above show. Let us know what you think.

Microsoft’s lame attempt to counter Apple’s “I’m a Mac” commercials have finally gotten on my every last nerve. I certainly have to call this commercial out for BS considering not one single person in the video has a Control+Alt+Delete feature built into them. I also find it funny that Microsoft feels truly threatened by a computer that owns a mere 10% of the market. I’m a Mac loyalist myself, and I certainly hope that the PC continues with its success. If Mac (the superior product) were to take over, quality would dwindle…

What do you guys think?

We just received word from Legacy Interactive that ‘Igor The Game’ is now available for PC download. For those of you not familiar with the title, the game is based on the animated film currently in theaters.  The game is also available for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and Mac.  There’s a pretty good chance we’ll be reviewing the title in the near future, so stay tuned…

The following press release was sent to us earlier today:

Picture this, Oblivion meets Final Fantasy in this PC classic Point-and-Click Puzzle Adventure Game.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a sucker for a good point-and-click adventure game.  So I thought I’d share this Old School Sunday with you about one of my favorite PC games from back in the day.  Quest For Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness.  A pleasant mix of Puzzle, Action-Adventure game, oh yeah and did I mention it was point-and-click?.  This game also brought humor and realistic feeling surroundings.  Oddly, this game has left an impression for me.  I know of an example of when my older brother (Gonzalo Perez aka Refugee) spoke to me once of a place he traveled to on a business trip.  He was explaining his surroundings when he the said “These streets remind me of Quest For Glory”  I instantly knew he was referring to this pic.  QFG:IV was better in someways than other well known point-and-click games i.e Monkey Island or Kings Quest.

Selecting your character was vital to your success

World of Warcraft is getting their 2nd expansion pack this fall. Wrath of the Lich King will be readily available on November 13th, 2008!

Get ready to expand people. But before you say, “ahh, I guess I’ll get this expansion since I didn’t get ‘The Burning Crusade” think again. In order to play Lich King, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that you ALSO need to have WOW:BC installed first. I’ve played WoW for a month, couldn’t get into the game. But I do appreciate MMoRPG’s. For crying out loud, I used to play Star Wars Galaxies (before the major change).

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King sends players to the cold, forbidding continent of Northrend, where the fearsome Lich King Arthas Menethil, last seen in Warcraft® III: The Frozen Throne®, works from his secluded citadel to bring all of Azeroth under his twisted dominion. Players will battle the Lich King’s undead army from the shores of Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra to the seat of his unholy power in Icecrown Glacier. In addition, players will be able to advance characters to level 80 and gain powerful new abilities while exploring several new zones and dungeons. The expansion also introduces a number of exciting new features, including an achievement system, expanded player-vs.-player combat options such as siege weapons and destructible buildings, and the game’s first Hero class - the necromantic death knight.

Since launching in November 2004, World of Warcraft has become the world’s most popular MMORPG, with more than 10.9 million subscribers. The game’s first expansion, The Burning Crusade, broke PC-game sales records in North America and Europe by selling nearly 2.4 million copies in its first 24 hours of availability and approximately 3.5 million copies in its first month.
