Nintendo’s Wii will be getting the love first on Monday, September 22, then PlayStation Network next Thursday, September 25. And in an unlikely turn of events, Xbox Live gets it last on October 1.

Considering how companies like to throw out release dates way in advance, it comes as a pleasant surprise how soon Mega Man 9 (for a measly $10) is upon us. Forces one to finally get to playing through Mega Man Anniversary Collection — equating to a very busy weekend.

The Wii version would seem like the most attractive version for us because of the remote’s “classic” look and feel. Where will you guys download?

It completely blows my mind that people of the world continue using the technical blunder known as Internet Explorer when the best web browsers are available for free and are one easy click away from downloading. We’re always trying new things on Kezins.com and the biggest problem is getting those new things to work in IE. Like most other arenas, Microsoft doesn’t play fair. They continually change IE and do NOT follow current web standards. In addition to Explorer not looking “right” when viewing a lot of sites, it’s also full of security issues. It boggles my mind why anyone uses it. There’s not one single good reason to use IE.

There’s nothing more frustrating than setting up something new on the site to find out that it works in every known browser but IE. At that point, we have to waste hours and hours of time trying to figure out how to get it to work or to simply drop the new feature because of this. Microsoft recently promised that IE 8 would automatically follow web standards and for a while, we started to believe them again. It turns out their new project does NOT follow standards intentionally. In actuality, a user will be required to manually change the browser settings for this to work. Why does Microsoft play like this? I don’t think anyone has a good answer, but it’s time people stopped dealing with them.  If you are one of those still using Microsoft’s browser, check out the following downloads which are all BETTER options:

Opera: Opera has a few issues, but it’s really fast and still superior to IE.

Safari: I’m actually using Safari as we speak.

Firefox: Probably the best for security and customization.

The day people stop using IE will be the day my life becomes a lot easier.  We certainly waste a ton of time making sure things work with Internet Explorer, instead of moving on to more important projects.

Since we already know Bungie is NOT working on Halo 4, I guess they need to stretch Halo 3 for everything it’s worth. The “Hired Gun” at Microsoft Game Studios will be developing Halo 4 and it should come out sometime in 2010 at the Xbox 720 launch. While browsing various blogs on the net, I came across an obviously edited condom photo that was definitely worth posting. The wrapper says “Finish the F**k” which could really have multiple meanings depending on your opinion of the series. The image was posted on Girl Gamers, but they didn’t mention where they found it.

This was one of the best weeks we’ve had on the site in a long time. As far as traffic, it was probably the best week we have had in 2 months, which makes all of us happy. We’d like to thank our loyal readers and random visitors for making things happen. Hopefully we can expand and make some bigger things happen if we continue the way we have been.  Our top article received over 15,000 unique views this week and covered the topic of the famous “Wilhelm Scream”.

If you have followed my writing over the past few years, you wouldn’t be surprised to find out that I’m not the biggest Nintendo Wii fan on the planet. When I hear people talking about how it’s the greatest console ever, I just find it extremely difficult to understand how they could possibly think this. Nintendo fanboys sometimes remind me of women with battered person syndrome. The Wii is basically like a busted crack head who beats his wife (the Nintendo Wii fanboy) yet she still loves him for some reason. It simply does not make the least bit of sense. Don’t take my post too personal. I still enjoy certain aspects of the Wii. I just find that it’s a highly flawed system that receives far more kudos than it should have.

Somehow China still leads in medal count for the 2008 Olympics, but that could all change soon. They were already caught cheating in gymnastics, so it’s possible some medals could be taken back from them. Some have stated that nearly half of the Chinese gymnastics team was NOT even eligible to compete.

Unfortunately, gymnastics is not the only arena where China has been accused of cheating. Apparently, accusations have been flying that they also cheated in shooting and boxing with unfair judging. With the amount of evidence already presented, I have to wonder if China’s cheating goes even deeper. We might be watching a rigged Olympics.

Do you think China is cheating? Leave a comment below and let us know. And yes we know that rhymed.

The Lost Boys is perhaps my favorite vampire film of all-time.  With that said, the film did NOT need a sequel.  It especially didn’t need a terrible sequel.  The one positive thing that resulted from ‘The Tribe’ is reassurance that Joel Schumacher’s original was all we needed.

‘Lost Boys: The Tribe’ is an obvious attempt to sucker fans of the original for one final time.  Here’s the basic recipe they used to create ‘The Tribe’:

  • Replace believable cast with a wretched group of actors.
  • Replace epic soundtrack with one of the worst soundtracks ever created.
  • Replace good visuals with tacky amateurish ones.
  • Stick to the original story, but throw in just enough annoying characters to make it new.
Set out to make a new life for themselves in the surf town of Luna Bay, siblings Chris (Tad Hilgenbrink) and Nicole Emerson (Autumn Reeser) are trying to start their lives over after the death of their parents.  Their strategy to accomplish this is to rent a delapidated house, drink as much booze as they can handle and have sex with the first person that comes along.  The brother and sister duo is predictable, cliche and boring. Chris meets the “cool” character in the movie Shane (Angus Sutherland), who is supposed to be the hotshot in town and the head of his own vampire tribe.  Unfortunately, there’s a reason most of us didn’t even know Kiefer had a half-brother named Angus.  His performance was dry, dimwitted and forgettable in every possible way. Eventually the slutty sister Nicole falls under Shane’s spell and becomes nearly undead.  Chris teams up with vampire hunter Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) to combat Shane’s tribe of “suck monkeys.”  Feldman’s performance was the complete highlight of the film.  It was certainly bad acting at it’s best. It almost seemed like Feldman took the role too seriously, but he at least provided some comedic relief.   The rest of the movie isn’t really worth talking about.  It’s full of cliche “sex and violence” vampire stuff and as predictable as yesterday’s news.  I was hoping we’d get a glance of Corey Haim’s appearance in the film and it’s there right at the end.  I wasn’t sure how they’d work him in considering he was cracked out on set and couldn’t remember his lines.  At least they got him in there for a quick spot at the end.  If you haven’t watched this film, I’d suggest avoiding it.  I tend to enjoy low-budget films from time to time, but they brought nothing creative to the table with this one.

One thing I might add to the review is the fact that we may want to simply avoid any film from director P.J. Pesce.  He’s about as talented as Uwe Boll.  We’re talking about the same director who brought us “Sniper 3″ and “From Dusk Till Dawn 3,” which I assume means his strategy is to bring us terrible sequels. “The Tribe” simply felt pieced together and glazed over with cliche action.  It seems like Pesce lacks the ability to stimulate the audience with anything creative.  With that said, I am hoping Pesce doesn’t get the chance to ruin the sequel to another good film series.  The only possible reason you might want to watch “The Tribe” is if you are a die-hard Feldman fan…

I was one of the millions who went to watch the slightly above mediocrity which is “The Dark Knight” this past weekend.  I’m not here to bash the movie, or claim it’s the worst but people out there HAVE to come to their senses. The Dark Knight (TDK) is NOT the best movie of all time, and that’s the truth!!!

Heath Ledger had his best performance on the silver screen, with his portrayal of ‘The Joker’   Everyone loved his performance, which I thought any other actor acting like a psycho would have done.  Not that difficult, you put some make-up on and read lines which professional writers give you - done!

Now the real talent was with Harvey Dent / Two-Face played by Aaron Eckhart.  His performance as the District Attorney was stellar and when he transformed into Two-Face he was that much better.  There is no doubt Eckhart’s performance out did Tommy Lee Joness’, but I’m also going out on the limb here to say he was the best actor on screen.

I actually forgot the plot of the movie was supposed to be around this guy, umm… Batman.  Christian Bale was really trying to throw more than his voice, his “angry” Batman lines were actually amusing.  A better movie would have been ‘Two-Faced Joker’, and skip this nippleless suit crime fighter.

Onto the IMDB debate

When I looked to see where “The Dark Knight” matched up against other Action movies, I was stunned.  Comparing TDK to other great titles is just plain and simply idiotic.  Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, and Star Wars: Empire Strikes back are fantastic films.  I see TDK in the upper crust, but more of a 7 than a 9.4.  Here are my pro’s and cons on TDK.

Pros:

  • Harvey Dent / Two Face
  • The Joker’s quotes
  • Batman’s motorcycle

Cons:

  • Batman’s voice
  • Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes
  • 152 minute run-time

Tell me who you think was the best actor on screen.

We expect an exciting press conference this Monday from Microsoft at E3. There are plenty of rumors out there, so we’ll try to only report the ones we feel are credible. The biggest rumor we expect is the announcement of Halo 4. Word on the street is that the game will NOT feature Master Chief as the main character. If this is true, it could possibly hurt the franchise. I just hope the lead character will be up to snuff.

Other things we expect:

  • ‘Rock Band 2′ will be featured.
  • ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ should be talked about.
  • Microsoft will add some hype to ‘Dead Space’
  • Perhaps we’ll hear something about Fable 2 having online co-op.
  • Xbox 360 price cuts and new SKU!

With any E3, it’s hard to say exactly what will happen, but we’re fairly certain that at least a few of the things I mentioned above will take place.
