Ninjatown continues to impress us with their weird lineup of characters.  The latest character promoted by SouthPeak Games is “Mountain Ninja” who looks like a hard-core Santa Claus to us.

Hark! If you listen closely, you can hear the mighty winds blowing through the Mountain Ninja’s robust beard. It sounds like icicles laughing. Hardened and solitary, the Mountain Ninja like to make snow ninjas and tend to their hefty herds of hairy Gorts. Motto: “I’m just fine by myself, thanks!”

We just received the following press release from SouthPeak Interactive concerning Ninjatown for the Nintendo DS.  We’ve seen some strange cryptic press releases from game companies in the past, but this one is just simply strange:

Introducing Ninja Dropping…

“He who smelled it, dealt it.”

Just when you thought it was safe to walk around in Ninjatown barefoot, Ninja Dropping appears out of nowhere and makes you very unhappy. Thing is, it’s not really his fault – he’s just dropped here and there by Wee Ninjas on the go, so what else is he to do except do his duty as a doody?

Motto

“He who smelled it, dealt it.

With PS3’s Summer Sale going on till July 31, I thought this was the perfect time to go ahead and buy me some PAIN for $4.99. With the additional add-on characters, I clearly understood PAIN’s sexual innuendo’s. I mean their Ninja character’s name in Hung-Lo, come one.

As I positioned the main character, Jarvis, into PAIN’s catapult I noticed the building in the distance located in the center of the screen. Watching “Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise”, I quickly realized the resemblance. It was obvious to me, that the level “Paindemonium” was set in Miami, Fl. Check out the rest of the pics below:

Ok, ok So I knocked out some letters, sue me!

First Impression: For $4.99, it’s a great buy on the PSN Summer Sale.  Full Review coming soon…

I’m not entirely sure what Ninjatown for the DS is all about, but they keep adding odd cute ninja photos to the net.  These guys might look “cute” but I’m sure they are still ruthless killers like the ninjas we love here at Kezins.  I posted the old trailer of the game below for your viewing pleasure.  The game will hit shelves in October.

You’re probably wondering why Flavor of Love’s Candance “Black” Cabrera is dressed up as a ninja warrior. I discovered this photo in my inbox today when I received the Urban Gamer Report #27 from the Konsole Kingz. My best guess is that they have done a Ninja Gaiden style photoshoot with her and we’ll probably see an XBL theme of Candace in the near future. I’ll keep checking their blog each day to see what they have in store for us.

We’ve been waiting a while for the Ninja Warrior video game and it’s finally here. While it does provide a little challenge, the game itself probably should have been tweaked a little more before being released. For a free flash game, there’s really not much I can complain about though. The sound effects are interesting and certainly get you in the Ninja Warrior mood. Any fan of the show will probably find this game enjoying for short bursts.  Being good at the game completely depends on your ability to time jumps.  When jumping over a gap, you almost have to press the space bar after you have already stepped off the edge.

Faces are everything for game companies. Popular faces…even better. This past week has seen the continuing battle between Ninja Gaiden creator, Tomonobu Itagaki, and his former employer, Tecmo, as the face of the company has left. Itagaki has turned his resignation in and is due out July 1st.

The main scuffle was that Team Ninja’s main man did not receive bonuses for his work on Dead or Alive 4 and was suggested that if he didn’t like the goings-on, he’d quit or sue.

Well, he did both and the aftermath hasn’t been pretty.

No more Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive games…at least, no more at the hands of the original creator for those series, Tomonobu Itagaki. The man that has headed Team Ninja with his rock steady demeanor at Tecmo has sent out a statement letting us know that he plans on resigning from the company effective July 1st.

Some of his motives for quitting the company are the denial of bonuses promised to him for Dead or Alive 4, “demeaning remarks about [him] to [his] subordinates and colleagues,” and are mostly directed at Tecmo’s President, Yoshimi Yasuda.

1up.com speculates that some of the blood boiling between Tecmo and Itagaki may have started with the growing focus at the company to turn profits (i.e. Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which is essentially the same game from the original Xbox) and lessening efforts on original, quality products.

Sad to see the gore visionary go, but Itagaki is sure to fall on his feet soon to continue his violent-game tradition — just don’t expect them to have “Ninja Gaiden” or “Dead or Alive” in the title.

We’re trying something new with the “games dropping this week” post today. We figure if Microsoft can make use of an aggregate site such as Metacritic to deter you from all the crap-filled gaming products out there, why not let you know what to avoid via the same source? Let us know what you think of our new approach in the comments.

Ninja Gaiden II has been getting fairly good reviews around the Interwebs. The consensus seems to be that its more of the same normal-enemies-can-kill-you challenging gameplay but the camera has proven to be troublesome and the story is among the top nonsensical plots in the series.

The other big game dropping this week is GRID, which demo you can try out on PSN and Xbox Live. And, of course, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures should keep you hooked on Indy for a few days.

Full list of games dropping this week after the break…
