Hoboken, New Jersey lies on the west bank of the Hudson River just a rock throw away from New York City. Hoboken is the archetypal American port town and has a deep and rich history.  Although the city isn’t really known for superhero action, many great people in American history hailed from the city such as Frank Sinatra.

In 1994, a weird DOS based game titled ‘Superhero: League of Hoboken’ hit the scene and it’s one of the few games based on Hoboken that I know about.

Driving on the Garden State Parkway and seeing an idiot on the road is nothing new in New Jersey.  But just today I noticed some jerk swerving in and out of lanes, not using his signals, and tailgating the driver’s in front of him.  So being the New Jersey driver I am, I tried pulling up next to this guy.  As we continued South getting closer to the George Washington Bridge exit I tried getting his attention by honking the horn, and high beaming him from behind.  After 10 minutes of the chase which I can say, I clearly came in second, that driver exited on 163, George Washington Bridge.  Although I trailed the mystery man, I was able to take a snapshot of the vehicle.  Unfortunately it was only from behind but I DO know it was a male and I could have sworn he was angry at the wheel.

“Yes, I’m infatuated with the Bronx Bombers”

Now if Uwe Boll did live in New Jersey, I doubt a couple of things.

  1. Number one, his cancer ribbon… would he put one his Pacifica?
  2. Does he even have a Rottweiler?
  3. And… Is he a Yankee Fan?

Let me know what you guys think.  Could the Legend Uwe Boll live in the good ole Garden State?

We have been using games as teaching tools for many years, but I believe that we are just starting to realize the educational value of mainstream games such as Second Life. Montclair State University recently held their Learning 2.0 Conference and an interesting presentation that came out of the event was one titled ‘Second Life as a Pedagogical Tool’. Montclair State is New Jersey’s second largest university. If you are interested in learning more about Half Life and the teaching value it presents, the following slide show is something worth looking at:
