The following are some of the chart-topping movies of the summer. Most are good, one is bad (we’re looking at you, “Hancock!”), but we’re glad its been a good year for summer movie watching and hope Hollywood entertains just as well next year.

#1 The Dark Knight - $471.1 Million

Heath Ledger’s swan song performance and serving to elevate Christian Bale’s popularity — apparently, the movie industry had yet to see his acting in “Empire of the Sun” and “Henry V” — “The Dark Knight” has been blowing up the box office this summer. Viewers have taken so much to the film that many are speculating it will break 1997’s “Titanic” $600 Million U.S. lifetime earnings (the highest grossing film of all time).

#2 Iron Man - $317.1 Million

Re-energizing Robert Downey Jr.’s career might be “Iron Man”’s biggest accomplishment, but it hasn’t done too shabby considering its earnings this summer. It’s easily one of the better comic book adaptations out there and if you haven’t watched it yet, shame on you.

#3 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - $315.1 Million

Proving that 80s franchises are still all the rage (and that Hollywood is still fresh out of ideas) has put “Indiana Jones” at #3, just narrowly missing to top “Iron Man” by a couple of million dollars. Actually…once written, that’s a LOT of money.

#4 Hancock - $225 Million

Wow. Sure, Will Smith’s latest might have provided a few chuckles and light entertainment for some but it easily beats all the other movies on this list to the “summer fluff and crap” title. Poor “WALL-E.” “Hancock” didn’t deserve to make more money than you.

#5 WALL-E - $214.1 Million

It’s a little surprising that “WALL-E” didn’t top a couple of the movies on this list (it should have taken down “Hancock,” at least!), but it was still hugely successful. The film showed a great maturation for Pixar as they took on touchy subjects while maintaining that high level of movie magic the studio is known for. One of the few movies this summer that entertained both kids and adults, alike.

New screens from LEGO Batman have been released and they look really good.  LEGO Indiana Jones was a bit of a let down, but I have a feeling LEGO Batman will be an extremely fun title with great characters.  Check out all the new images at the via link below:

The faint yell you’ve heard in ALL 6 Star Wars films is the legendary scream called ‘The Wilhelm Scream’. After playing Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid 4 and God of War I and II, I can confirm the infamous scream is also in video games. After reading up on the history of ‘The Wilhelm Scream’ it seems it has been used in 170 movies, 15 TV shows and 26 38 37 48 53 56 Video Games. That sound is so noticeable that when I hear it on any media, I’ll instantly look at my wife for confirmation. Then we both ask “This movie has it too?”

Below are the list of video games that include ‘The Wilhelm Scream’:

  1. Ant City (When someone is run over by a car.)
  2. Army Of Two (During the China cutscene)
  3. Asterix at the Olympic Games
  4. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
  5. Bionic Commando: Rearmed
  6. Call of Duty 2
  7. Civilization: Revolution (DS version)
  8. Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Occasionally when killing infantry)
  9. Dirk Valetine and the Fortress of Steam (Sometimes when you kill a guard)
  10. Dungeon Keeper (When a warlock is being tortured)
  11. Eragon (Demo: When Brom shoots the ropes holding the gate up and the gate collapses)
  12. Grand Theft Auto IV
  13. Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas (When you kill a gangster) DEBATED
  14. God of War (When you kill the man holding the bridge on the Rooftops of Athens. Also during a later cinematic scene where Kratos leads his troops into a church)
  15. God of War 2
  16. Halo 3 (Occasionally when a Spartan is killed in Multiplayer)
  17. Half Life 2 Continue reading »

Recently, Lucas Arts laid off numerous employees and one of them supposedly spilled the beans to Kotaku about upcoming titles.  Here are a few that are in the works according to Kotaku and the disgruntled ex-employee:

  • KOTOR 3 (They say it’s an MMO)
  • Battlefront 3
  • The Official Indiana Jones game
  • another LEGO game based on the Indy universe
  • a lightsaber game for the wii (but no lightsaber peripherals)

The odds of these being true are fairly good.  There was no doubt in my mind that Lucas has been actively working on KOTOR 3.  It’s just a surprise that it might be an MMO.  I’m hoping it’s not, because an MMO would be a big deviation from one of the greatest game series of all-time.  KOTOR and KOTOR 2 were awesome titles.  I don’t see why they would change the formula now.

“Listen Obama, take off those coke bottles and ‘choke hold’ those Republicans”

At Kezins.com, we do not talk religion, politics or salary.  I can’t say that for Star Wars conversations, and all the “What If’s” we ask each other… daily.  So, when you throw Star Wars into the mix, we’ll write about it.  Don’t kill the messenger but George Lucas has some strong comments, and I only understand them when he speaks ‘Star Wars’.  Correct he may be.

George Lucas has created legendary film heroes like Luke Skywalker and Indiana Jones, but the US director says that in real life, his hero is Barack Obama.

Lucas was in Japan on Wednesday to promote his latest film, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” as Obama clinched the Democratic Party’s nomination for president.

“We have a hero in the making back in the United States today because we have a new candidate for president of the United States, Barack Obama,” Lucas said when asked who his childhood heroes were.

Obama, “for all of us that have dreams and hope, is a hero,” Lucas said.

Lucas is the creator of the blockbuster “Star Wars” series, as well as the adventures of the swashbuckling archaeologist Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford.

Obama on Tuesday sealed the Democratic contest after a marathon battle with Hillary Clinton, becoming the first black White House candidate nominated by a major party.

Many say the ‘Chosen One’ in his movies was indeed Luke Skywalker, and some people think it’s still Vader since he single-handedly (pun intended) threw Emperor Palpatine down the Vent Shaft.  So is he right this time with Obama?

We’re trying something new with the “games dropping this week” post today. We figure if Microsoft can make use of an aggregate site such as Metacritic to deter you from all the crap-filled gaming products out there, why not let you know what to avoid via the same source? Let us know what you think of our new approach in the comments.

Ninja Gaiden II has been getting fairly good reviews around the Interwebs. The consensus seems to be that its more of the same normal-enemies-can-kill-you challenging gameplay but the camera has proven to be troublesome and the story is among the top nonsensical plots in the series.

The other big game dropping this week is GRID, which demo you can try out on PSN and Xbox Live. And, of course, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures should keep you hooked on Indy for a few days.

Full list of games dropping this week after the break…

Made for television movies are usually terrible, but for some reason ‘The Andromeda Strain’ actually looks like it could be worth watching. I might take a break this evening from gaming and check out the first part of the miniseries.  I have been feeling let down by my entertainment choices this week after watching Indiana Jones IV, so maybe this will be a surprising delight.

The Angry Video Game Nerd checks out old Indiana Jones games in the following video.  It’s really unfortunate that some of the old Indiana Jones games are some of the worst ever made.  Fortunately, LEGO Indiana Jones is actually a modern game that’s not too bad.  Enjoy the following video.
