New Halo Wars images have been floating around the net and we finally tracked them down. There’s nothing mind blowing here, but it’s an interesting look at some of the things to look forward to. I didn’t expect Warthogs with paint jobs, but I am sure there will be many surprises with this game.

This week, Adam Sessler discusses the racist homophobes we run across too often while playing games online. He’s right about the fact that it’s usually the young 10-year old gamers taking part in this and they are honestly ruining the fun of playing online. It’s gotten so bad in Halo 3 that I simply have it set up so the other teams are always on mute and I very rarely play with random people on my side. It’s sad that people are like this online. I have always felt like the anonymous nature of the internet brings the worst out of people. When it comes to the children acting like this, I’d like to know where the hell their parents are. When I was a kid, if I had used the language and racist terms these punks are using, I would have been beaten senseless.

Will Red vs. Blue ever get old?  I highly doubt it.  The classic machinima is back with “Reconstruction” and things are looking better than ever.  These new videos almost make me want to go back to playing Halo 2 again.

For a while, Sony fanboys have been coining Haze as the “Adult Halo”, basically inferring that it was the PS3 game that would put Microsoft’s Halo to shame. I’m not sure what people were smoking, but I’d like to get my hands on some of it. Haze is perhaps one of the biggest let downs in the entire PS3 library. Continue reading »

Are you wondering how much precious time in your life has been tossed away simply waiting to respawn in Halo 3? You no longer have to wonder. Check out the neat script over at Shadyserver.com. Here’s my results:

Kezins
You’ve wasted 0 days, 12 hours, 6 mins, and 0 seconds waiting to respawn
In ranked matches, you’ve waited to respawn for: 0 days, 3 hours, 10 mins, and 20 seconds
In social matches, you’ve waited to respawn for: 0 days, 8 hours, 55 mins, and 40 seconds

You’ve caused people to waste 0 days, 10 hours, 14 mins, and 20 seconds waiting to respawn
In ranked matches, you’ve caused people to wait to respawn for: 0 days, 2 hours, 28 mins, and 55 seconds
In social matches, you’ve caused people to wait to respawn for: 0 days, 7 hours, 45 mins, and 25 seconds

Thanks for the tip Alain!

You’d think rank boosting would have finally slowed down, but it’s still a common thing taking place on Halo 3. There are even people making money out there helping others boost their profile to the top of the ranks. I’m not sure why Bungie and Microsoft do not consider rank boosting a cheating offense. Boosting completely throws off the natural balance of things and is not fair to the players who actually earn their merits.

For some reason, I thought the Gilbert Arenas cheating incident would have sparked Microsoft and Bungie to take more steps against boosting, but apparently it’s just something that’s too much trouble for them to get involved with. I’d like to know what everyone else thinks about boosting and cheating in games. Do you think Microsoft and Bungie need to take more steps and ban these bums that are ruining the games for everyone else?

“Lockout” was perhaps my favorite Halo 2 map and now we have the remake “Blackout” for Halo 3. The debate this week will certainly be deciding which map is better. I honestly wish I could say the new map was better, but I still prefer Halo 2’s version. I feel like the textures were completely overdone on the new map and the map is just missing some of the old magic. I had the chance to play a few games on it today and it simply didn’t feel as exciting as the old map did. On the old map, it was easier to create choke points to trap the enemy team, but it just feels a little too spacious this time around. Obviously “Blackout” will be the map that sells the new DLC pack, but I’m just not feeling it. It’s still a good map, but I honestly expected more.

Which map do you prefer?

Halo 2’s Lockout or Halo 3’s Blackout…

With the new maps coming out, we’ll probably be getting in some heavy Halo 3 hours this week. We’ve been a little burnt out on the game lately, so there’s nothing better than new maps to freshen things up a bit. Unfortunately, Halo has always been a love-hate relationship for some of us going back to the original game. We simply love the game, and hate many of the types of gamers it attracts. These types of gamers apply to most other games as well.

Here’s a rundown of the types of gamers we despise running into:

We’re only a couple days away from the release of the Legendary Map Pack which will hit the marketplace on April 15 for 800 Microsoft Points. I wasn’t overly impressed with the Heroic Map Pack, but things look a little different this time. All three maps coming out look like they will all add depth to the gameplay of Halo 3. I still prefer the overall maps of Halo 2, but that could all change soon.

I know you guys like money. At least I assume you do. I know that there are tons of scam H3 tourneys out there, but this one is the real deal. I know the parties involved and would personally recommend any event JC-Media is involved with. Will this be the greates Halo FFA ever? I don’t know, but these guys always put on great events. If you are anywhere near Chantilly, VA on April 19, check this event out. For official rules visit JC-Media.com.
