GTA Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS will feature a drug dealing mini-game and like clockwork, various organizations are already pissed off about that. Fortunately, the game should be rated “M” meaning that their arguments concerning the affect on children are mute and uncalled for.
Anything using drug-dealing as entertainment is sending out the wrong message. Glamorisation doesn’t help our work trying to educate kids of the dangers of substance misuse.
Funny. Lately, breaking game news have avoided big name sites and are brought to light via forum dwellers. A prime example is NeoGaf, a glorified community post site, that has attracted the likes of Denis Dyack — as well as other developers — in defending their titles against the vocal minority.
Earlier today they brought us a few details about the next GTA game that is, surprisingly, coming out on the DS. Poster “botticus” lets us know of a few bullet points found in the upcoming issue of Nintendo Power: Continue reading »
“Dates-wise I also discovered that the first piece of GTA downloadable content will be arriving in November as well. Very little details were given but I was assured it would be sizable bringing roughly 15 hours of additional play time.” - Chris from RPG-TV
Kotaku pointed us to the above RPG-TV blog which gives us a clearer picture of when we can hope to get some more Grand Theft Auto’ing done.
Rockstar has previously stated that it would break a few price barriers when they released the exclusive Xbox 360 DLC this fall and, if the above is accurate, it looks like gamers will get their full money’s worth.
Would you guys mind paying more than premium prices (likely above $30) for an additional 15 hours of GTA IV content?
Midway’s upcoming open-world game set in Las Vegas is your meal ticket to fun after hours on the strip. ‘This is Vegas’has a Grand Theft Auto feel to it, with a pinch of PlayStation 3’s ‘Home’. It’s coming to the X360, PS3, and PC in early 2009. If this game comes with hookers, crack, and counterfeit money I’d pay $89.99 for the “Special Edition”. Let it Riiide…
While it comes as no surprise that a game with “Grand Theft Auto” in the title would go on to sell millions upon millions, it does come as a bit of a surprise that it has beaten ALL of Nintendo’s console offerings, saleswise.
NPD has reported that Grand Theft Auto IV has gone and sold a cool $6,293,000 in North America and Europe (the game will be out shortly in Japan). Followed closely by Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and Guitar Hero III, in order.
It looks like Japan will FINALLY get their release date for Grand Theft Auto 4. On October 30, expect to pick up your very own copy of GTA IV for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. I’m sure there will be another “burst” in sales for the game of course and consoles. GTA IV IS a console seller!
According to a Nielsen survey, approximately 17% of ‘GTA IV’ purchasers were under 17. Out of the 17%, 61% claim to have bought it themselves. What did this survey really prove? Not too much. Surveys are always skewed a bit when it comes from Nielsen in my opinion and there’s really no evidence to back up the figures. If the 17% was an accurate figure, I’d say the problem lies with the retailers and shouldn’t have any negative impact on the video game industry. Do I care about the survey? Not really…
PC gamers don’t have much longer to wait for Grand Theft Auto IV. The game will be hitting shelves on November 18th and 21st in North America and Europe respectively. For more information on the game, visit http://www.rockstargames.com/IV. While I think it’s a little late in the game for anyone to get extremely excited about a PC release of GTA IV, we can always hope that the mod community finds a way to make the PC version exciting.
Searching Youtube for the someone kicked in the groin, fall, or leaked footage of SOMETHING, I came across this video. This video is just awesome. UltimateChance compiled a worth watching video of Grand Theft Auto 4. Using GTA IV to re-enact scenes from great gangster movies is ok in my book. Check out the list of movies remade using GTA IV, with great audio mind you.
Scenes include:
Godfather - Tollbooth Scene (Sonny’s Murder)
Goodfellas - “Then He Kissed Me” scene
Reservoir Dogs - Mexican Standoff scene
I Am Legend - Neville vs. Fred
American History X - Opening Scene
Fight Club - Ending Scene Continue reading »
When we first asked you “Will Saints Row 2 Be Better than GTAIV?” we were not surprised to see a split decision. Now, two months after GTAIV has been out, we wonder… Which game will have a longer replay value? After reading some reviews on GTA IV a lot of people have ejected the disc.
What’s in your PS3 or X360 this weekend?
I do believe Saints Row 2 will do well in sales. Since GTA was an exclusive title for the Playstation and GTAIV did well for the X360, I see the same happening with Saints Row 2.
