If you are a fan of the site, then you probably read our original ‘7 Greatest Video Game Urban Legends’ post, which quickly became our most popular article ever. We thought it was about time to bring back the post with updates and new information.

We all have heard of them, swore to have done them or know someone whose cousin has. That’s right, I’m talking about Video Game Urban Legends (VGUL). No, we’re not going to talk about the munchkin in the back of “Wizard of Oz” who supposedly hangs himself from the tree. We’re not talking about how there is a ghost in the window in “3 Men and a Baby” who died in that house. Not Bigfoot or Loch Ness. We’re talking Video Games…. We’re talking Urban Legends in Video Games.

We searched high and low to bring to you, our latest redux installment of these Urban Legends, and hope you enjoy what we have come up with.

If you have followed my writing over the past few years, you wouldn’t be surprised to find out that I’m not the biggest Nintendo Wii fan on the planet. When I hear people talking about how it’s the greatest console ever, I just find it extremely difficult to understand how they could possibly think this. Nintendo fanboys sometimes remind me of women with battered person syndrome. The Wii is basically like a busted crack head who beats his wife (the Nintendo Wii fanboy) yet she still loves him for some reason. It simply does not make the least bit of sense. Don’t take my post too personal. I still enjoy certain aspects of the Wii. I just find that it’s a highly flawed system that receives far more kudos than it should have.

We write a ton of posts on Kezins.com, so it doesn’t take long for an article to work it’s way off the front page and into the abyss where some people may never find them.  Because of this, we have decided to post links to our most popular articles from the week each Saturday.  Some articles may be from long ago, yet still popular like Juan’s “7 Greatest Video Game Urban Legends”.  If you’d like to see our all-time most popular posts, just click on Top Posts at the top menu.

Emerald Weapon (Final Fantasy VII)

Some may wonder why Emerald Weapon is my choice for one of the greatest video game villains of all-time. It might have a little something to do with the fact that this villain was simply one hard bastard to beat. With over a million HP and a 20 minute time limit for the battle, very few people beat Emerald Weapon on the first or even second try. While Emerald Weapon wasn’t the hardest boss of all time, it was certainly in my top 5. The only boss battle that was on the same epic level as Emerald Weapon would have been Murai from Ninja Gaiden Black. Defeating any villain in a game should evoke emotions of accomplishment, and Emerald Weapon certainly accomplished that for me.

If you happened to collect the Underwater Materia in the game, then you don’t have to worry about the time limit, but that’s not as fun. I fought and defeated EW when I first located him back in 1997. I discovered a YouTube video showing the boss being defeated by Tifa:

Well, it was only a matter of time we’d see the Greatest Hits red cover come to the PS3.  Sony’s last big Greatest Hit was God Of War 2, so going to the PS3 was only logical.  The image above is from a K-Mart and does a great job showing the titles.  Among those titles we do see are:  MotorStorm, Warhawk, and Resistance.  The games towards the bottom are PSP games.  Had to take out my Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass.

Jun 02

On June 5, the general public will get their hands on the latest Incredible Hulk game for the PC, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PS2 and PS3.  So far it looks like the Xbox 360 version will be the best considering that will be the only way you can play as the Red Hulk. Although it’s still early and I have only been able to get limited exposure to the game, it looks like it may be the first good Hulk game ever.  I’m not saying it’s going to be the greatest game, but it will certainly be the best Hulk game ever unleashed on the market and will probably rank up there with the best Marvel games this generation.

To celebrate the release of the film and video game, I decided to compile my favorite Incredible Hulk quotes.  Considering the fact that I have yet to watch a Hulk movie I actually liked, I decided to take the quotes from the original Incredible Hulk television series (1977).  All the CG in the world will simply never create a product more memorable than the classic series starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Incredible Hulk.
