In our effort to out-do the overrated “Wii Fit Girl”, we’re bringing you “Bikini Guitar Hero Girl”.  Check out this chick in her bikini play Guitar Hero!  I’ve noticed something in this video… no flat panel TV like “Wii Fit Girl”, and no idiot showing his face at the end of the video.

We Got The Beat… Yeah!

In an effort to nail this bit in the coffin, TRL interviewed the 15-minute 2 month fame star. This video will hopefully end Ms Lauren Bernat’s run.

We talked about how motarded I felt the Wii Fit girl video was earlier. While checking out more YouTube videos I discovered the following gem. It’s also a goofy video, but it’s actually funny. To be a great YouTube video, something needs to be either funny, weird or a display of superior skill. This guy has no skill, but the video is certainly funny.

We’ve all seen the silly Wii Fit girl video; the one titled ‘Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit’. Nearly 3 1/2 million people have viewed it on YouTube so far. While some of you may be amused by her antics, I’m simply starting to get irritated by the entire situation. When videos like this are the most popular thing on the net, I have to wonder how far our society instantly declined. Here are the top 10 reasons the Wii Fit girl aka Lauren Bernat grinds my gears:

I had my heart set on publishing an extensive review of Wii Fit, but an injury using the product has put me on the sideline.  Strangely enough, I wasn’t working out excessively hard on the device.  My goal was to use the system for 30 minutes per day.  On the 11th day, during a low level step exercise routine, as I was placing my left foot on the Wii board, I heard a strange pop in the same area.  At first, my foot felt mostly numb, but the pain certainly followed.  To make sure I hadn’t broken anything, I headed to the VA hospital to get some x-rays done.  It turns out, I ended up straining a ligament in my foot, which was also accompanied by some bruising.  Fortunately, it’s only going to take 2-3 weeks to recover, but it has certainly left me with concerns playing Wii Fit.

Now that I am unable to release a full review in a timely manner, here’s what I can tell you:

Just like Wii Sports, don’t pay any attention to your Wii Fit Age.  My age ranged from anywhere between 22 and 54 in only 11 days.  The test really measures your balance more than anything else.

Yoga Poses, Muscle Workouts, Aerobic Exercises, and Balance Games are the four types of activities you can use.  One area that Wii Fit totally excels in is getting users to be conscious of their posture and balance.

  • For the most part, the Yoga poses are completely useless.  You’re really better off doing an actual Yoga session from a program like Namaste Yoga on Fit TV.  If you get the channel and have a DVR, you are in business.  The problem with Wii Yoga is that it’s just too simple.  While doing one pose at a time for a couple minutes can be slightly beneficial, an actual structured Yoga program works better.  It’s just a simple fact that Yoga in 1 or 2 minute bursts really doesn’t help you the way a 20 minute non-stop program will.
  • The muscle workouts are actually not too bad on Wii Fit.  I did feel like the muscle workouts started on way too easy of a level, but things pick up as you advance in the game.
  • The aerobic activities on Wii Fit are really good and well-paced, but I might advise against taking part in the running activities.  Running in place can actually be more stressful on your body than actually running outside.  You also need to be careful if you have hard floors like I do.  These can be rough on your feet if you are not accustomed to working out barefoot.
  • Balance games are probably the most enjoyable experience.  While you’re not getting as much exercise value, it’s definitely where you are going to have most of your fun with Wii Fit.

Most of us noticed the “Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit” video on the front page of Digg.com yesterday. It turns out that the supposedly home-made video was more than likely something that came from the Tinsley Advertising Company. The sleuths over at Shoemoney discovered that the video was probably part of a Nintendo viral marketing campaign. I’m sure the video still would have been popular had this been known, but it is a shady form of marketing.

The actual video is currently well over 8,000 Diggs and will probably reach 9,000 before the day is over.  If we’ve learned anything from this, it’s the fact that viral YouTube marketing strategies are still extremely effective and powerful.

Numerous people have sent me messages today asking why there’s a big “Not Legal For Trade” stamp on the bottom of every Wii Fit device.  It’s pretty simple really.  ”Not Legal For Trade” will be found on the bottom of any scale that’s not legal for trade.  The Wii Fit is basically a scale, so it fits into legal requirements for general scales.  By “trade” they are talking about business.  A “Legal For Trade” scale means that it’s balanced and calibrated with a certification.

For those of you that think this means you can’t trade it back to GameStop or wherever you shop, that’s not the case.  Check any bathroom scale in your house.  I’m sure it has the same stamp unless you own a really expensive one.  In that case, you’d probably already know the meaning.  So basically, don’t use the Wii Fit to professionally weigh gold or whatever else you might be selling or weighing that requires an official scale.

If you are too lazy to pick up the Wii Fit Demo DVD at your local store, check out the above video. It gives you a pretty good idea of what kind of training you should expect from Wii Fit.

I’ve seen bundled games before, NES Powerpad with Super Mario Brothers/ Duck Hunt/ Track & Field and the classic Mario Paint with a mouse and pad, but is the Wii Fit too much for $90 USD. What Nintendo promises to have is a board that moves left to right and provides strengthening activities. Exercising on the Wii is as accurate as the number meter at the deli counter… they’re always wrong. But if you promote good health and put a Wii sticker on it, it will sell. Just ask the Japanese!

Product: Wii Fit Board

System: Nintendo Wii

Price: $90

On May 19th, expect some Wii Fanboy to begin to record his hours, and show us his results on the Wii Fit Board. Within that schedule he will show us how Wii Fit will include over 40 fitness-inspired activities, including yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance activities. I’m a believer in Old School training: chasing a chicken, drinking raw eggs and punching dead cattle. If the Wii can reproduce the same results without clogging my atteries with cholesterol driven embryos, I’ll pay the Ninety dollars. But they’re getting my dough in Canadian money (wait is that stronger than the US dollar?).

Couldn’t think of anything for this, they look too happy - hairy armpits? See I told ya… Nothing
