One of the biggest topics last week has been announcements on Microsoft’s end to combat some of the crap that hits
XBLA. It’s a measure that shows that Microsoft is doing what they can and making sure the gamer gets a quality experience.
As far as downloadable games go, I tend to stay far and away from them. Most have little redeeming qualities to them, have little replay value, AND are usually riddled with crappy online code that makes taking strangers online a choppy mess.
Rez, Ikaruga, Tetris Splash, Geometry Wars, and Pac-Man: Championship Edition are but a few of the gems on Xbox Live Arcade but the rest of the XBLA library continues to grow in its own stench-infested waste.
The measure should be a good fit for gamers as we wont need to wade through “Shrek & Roll” any longer to get to the good stuff that much quicker. Don’t worry, it doesn’t get rid of all your guys’ guilty pleasures as the measure only includes games that have been up 6 months on the service, less than a 6% demo-to-full game purchase, and underrated at 65 or below on Metacritic.
Meaning, crappy games will stand a chance for at least 6 months from their initial release…its a start though.
