Joining the ever popular list of digital downloads, Capcom will have their own section on the PlayStation Network.

For those wondering what new items you’ll see on the PlayStation Network, you’ll be treated to everything that is Capcom. All of Capcom’s digital downloads, demo’s, themes etc. will be located within the “capcom Department”. Not only will this be a huge bonus to PSN fans, but expect future exclusives brought to you courtesy of Capcom.

Within this “Capcom Store”, you’ll be able to browse through all Capcom digital content available from PlayStation Network. Once inside the Capcom category, you will notice that all their content is sorted by title. This allows you easy access to view all content related to a particular game. This includes all full game content, demo and promotional items (themes, wallpapers, etc).

PlayStation 3 fans, today is THE demo day you’ve been waiting for.  Mirror’s Edge arrives on the PSN!  Xbox Live members will get the demo on Halloween (Oct. 31st)

Releasing on November 11th in North America, Mirror’s Edge is a First Person shooter (FPS) powered by the Unreal Engine 3 with the addition of new lighting, developed by DICE.  Mirror’s Edge aims to “convey the strain and physical contact with the environment”, according to senior producer Owen O’Brien, and to instill a freedom of movement not yet seen in the first-person genre.

The very successful PC, X360 game Bioshock is porting over to the PS3.  Expect a demo on Oct 2nd.

I’m a sucker for a good demo.  Well, when you got a 60gb hard drive, you can only fill it up with save logs of Oblivion 100 times.  I’ve ranted on other demo’s and I think that Bioshock will be a demo title def. worth filling up disk space.  If you’ve never played Bioshock before, let me give you a quick synopsis:  Set in an alternate history 1960, the game places the player in the role of a plane crash survivor named Jack, who must explore the underwater dystopian city of Rapture, and survive attacks by the mutated beings and mechanical drones that populate it.

I haven’t personally had any time with Skate It for the Wii, but it looks like some negative opinions are already starting to fly concerning the controls.  I was wondering how well the balance board could possibly work with a skating game and so far, most opinions out of PAX have been on the negative side.  While I enjoy the various Wii peripherals on some games, I’d rather just have a standard controller for others.  Here’s what Ben Kuchera had to say about Skate It:

Skate It seems to use the Wiimote and balance board because it can, and during the demo I kept thinking to myself that I’d rather be playing with a standard controller. I think these concepts have value, Shaun White Snowboarding looks and plays great so far, but Skate It just doesn’t pull the execution off well enough to justify the balance board’s use.

I’ve finally had the time to run through the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo on Xbox LIVE a few times.  The demo starts you out with “the apprentice” having a conversation with his master, Darth Vader.  This really sets the tone for the demo and hopefully we’ll see many conversations like this in the full game.

You start the level oboard a giant ship and your goal is to kill everyone and everything.  Before you go on your rampage, it’s a lot of fun to start picking up random containers and throw them wherever you please with your powers.   The demo also starts you off with numerous force abilities including dash, defend, the saber attack, high jump, Force Lightning, Force Push and Force Grip.  While nearly all work flawlessly with the simple control scheme, I wasn’t too thrilled with the defending ability.  While standing still, it’s easy to defend against blaster attacks, but it’s a little tricky to defend yourself while moving.  Other than that, movement is fairly fluid and feels right.  Flinging objects at your whim is probably the #1 aspect of the demo.  It’s definitely a fun feeling to fling a canister at a moving Tie-Fighter to take it out of the sky.

In a move that further proves what we said a while back about the “Qore” initiative Sony launched a couple weeks back, subscribers and those who purchase Episode 4 of the series will get into the Motorstorm: Pacific Rift a month early before anyone else does.

Now, wasn’t it PS3 fanboys who complained about not having to pay for premium demos like on Xbox 360? Difference is: you get demos a week later if you don’t pay for Xbox Live…in this case, it’s a month.

To be fair, though, at least you don’t have to be a loyal subscriber to “Qore” and you can just buy the episode for $2.99. Hate to do it, but this writer might just dump a couple bucks to play the demo…dammit, Sony!
