Well, it was only a matter of time before we saw Brett Favre’s Packer Cover photo replaced with the “correct” uniform. Here are the pics of Madden ’09’s new cover featuring none other than Brett “The Jet” Favre.

The new Brett Favre jersey is now on sale at the Jets Shop. The replica jersey which should be a very popular one sells for $80.00. While Brett Favre is still featured on the cover on Madden 09 in his Packers jersey, I’m sure the first roster update will have him with the Jets. While Favre being traded to the Jets may just seem like the typical “over the hill” QB trying to get in one last season, I think the trade may have a heavy impact on this season and possibly the next. If the Jets perform poorly this season, the draft choice they sent to the Packers now becomes more valuable. The Jets do have some quality receivers with Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery, meaning that Favre should be able to jump right in and stretch the field with these guys as long as they all stay healthy. Basically, the New York Jets just went from a mediocre team behind Clemens or Pennington to a playoff potential with Favre. I assume either Clemens or Pennington will be traded soon. If the New York Jets could somehow beat the New England Patriots at least once this season, they will be in serious business. While some may think the Packers are doomed, that’s probably not the case. They will have a really strong defense this season. If Rodgers can step up and play to his potential, they might make the playoffs as well…
It looks like Brett Favre is officially a member of the New York Jets, but the Madden 09 cover will still have him in a Packers uniform. G4 spoke with EA to confirm that the cover will remain the same, despite the trade. Hopefully Favre will have a productive season with the Jets and avoid the Madden curse, but weird things already seem to be happening concerning this year’s release.

Nine new screenshots have been released by EA for NBA Live 09. This game series has come a long way since ‘Lakers vs. Celtics’ was released in 1989. 09 features Tony Parker on the cover and is set for an October 7, 2008 release. Some of the new features include “pick and roll control”, “signature playcalling”, “NBA Academy”, “lockdown control” and “Quickstrike AnkleBreakers”. According to EA, the AI has also been upgraded. I haven’t actually played the game yet, but from what I’ve seen, it looks like it is a considerable improvement over NBA Live 08.
As you may already heard, Brett Favre is trying to make a comeback. He currently has not reported to any camp yet, including his former team the Green bay Packers. The couple of teams that have shown interest are the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Bucs. Since April 24th, when Brett was announced the new cover athlete for Madden 09, minor rumblings began about his return. Could the video game football franchise have possibly influenced his return? If he DOES play this upcoming year, I say it helped! We have new screens of Madden 2009, and boy do they look good. Here are some of the new features you can expect to see this year:

Well, it was only a matter of time we’d see the Greatest Hits red cover come to the PS3. Sony’s last big Greatest Hit was God Of War 2, so going to the PS3 was only logical. The image above is from a K-Mart and does a great job showing the titles. Among those titles we do see are: MotorStorm, Warhawk, and Resistance. The games towards the bottom are PSP games. Had to take out my Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass.

Bioshock coming to the PS3 would be good enough news for me. But now the game will be “genetically enhanced” which means it will be oozing with more goodiness. I for sure will be excited to get my drill mittens on this release, but what I’ll be really looking for is on the cover above. Y’all see that little icon in the lower right hand corner, “That’s Right Robyn”, it will also incorporate the PSN “Home”.
“Hoo Hoo, I invented PSN Home, Robyn”
Apparently, the guys over at GamesRadar were on to something juicy as they had a preview of the highly-anticipated Resident Evil 5 up, but have since taken it down. 1up caught the story in time and wrote up some of the more interesting tidbits.
RE5 will have, according to the now-absent preview, online co-op where players can “jump in/jump out” of the action, a cover system (as is the norm in shooters nowadays), and the right stick will enable the player to duck and dodge.
The article speculates that the game wont ship out until 2009, but Capcom “insiders” (via Kotaku) “are forecasting 2.3 million global sales for Resident Evil 5 this year.” [Emphasis ours]
Make of that what you will…2009 for RE5 goodness? Or is 2008 still in the cards?
If you wanted to know precisely what the official strategy guide for Grand Theft Auto IV will look like, check out the image below. I’m not big on strategy guides myself, but this could be a useful pickup for anyone unfamiliar with the series. For anyone else, I’d suggest playing any game before buying a strategy guide. Guides sometimes take the fun out of exploring games on your own.
