The new Acer ‘Predator’ gaming PC is here and it certainly looks badass. The computer casing was inspired by Lamborghini and it shows. Gameplayer recently had the fortunate chance to test Call of Duty 4 on the system and they say “it was hard not to be impressed”. Is the system worth $4,000 - $8,000? I’m not sure, but Gameplayer’s article makes it sound like it might be.
European gamers will get the chance to check out ‘Table Football’ on the Wii tomorrow when it’s released. It’s a shame there’s no North American release scheduled at this time. Table football or foosball as we call it in the states is probably one of the greatest social games ever invented next to beer pong.
The Championship Gaming Series (CGS), the only sanctioned worldwide professional gaming league, opened free registration for the inaugural CGS Pro-Am Division, greatly expanding the opportunity for aspiring professional gamers to take on the CGS pros. I can’t even count how many people I know who claim they are just as good as the pros, but they always have some excuse. Now it’s time for the bitchassness to end because the CGS is giving all of us a chance to show what we’re made of.
Full Press Release with registration follows:
LOS ANGELES – August 12, 2008 –
Championship Gaming SeriesTM (CGS), the only worldwide professional gaming league, opened free registration for the inaugural CGS Pro-Am Division, greatly expanding the opportunity for aspiring professional gamers to take on the CGS pros and see if they have what it takes to compete alongside the best of CGS, perhaps winning some cold hard cash in the process.
First announced earlier this summer, amateur and professional gamers from North America will have the chance to showcase their talent against CGS’ most elite gaming stars for a share of a prize purse totaling US$40,000 during the Pro-Am division’s inaugural season.
The CGS Pro-Am division features one official PC league title – Valve’s Counter-Strike®: Source® (CS:S), along with two other popular Valve games, Counter-Strike®: 1.6 and Team Fortress 2 (TF2). CS:S, CS 1.6 and TF2 represent three of the most popular and successful eSports PC titles of all time and now gamers throughout North America can step up to prove they have what it takes to challenge the CGS pros.
Xbox 360 gamers will also have a chance to compete against CGS stars on Xbox LIVE via the league’s official Xbox titles, Tecmo’s Dead or Alive® 4 and Forza Motorsport® 2 from Microsoft Game Studios, as well as on other popular Xbox 360 games that will be featured in upcoming Xbox LIVE matches. Competitions will take place every other Friday featuring CGS pros, kicking off this Friday, August 15, when Xbox LIVE gamers from around the globe can take on Dallas Venom players Michelle “Phoenix” Pleet and Manny “Master” Rodriguez in DOA4. For more info, visit http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/calendar/playthepros/2008/0815-dallasvenom.htm
PC gamers interested in testing their skills against the pros should register at http://pro-am.thecgs.com/ now through September 3, 2008. The first season of the Pro-Am Division kicks off September 10.
I haven’t had the chance to check out ‘Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory’, but the assets I receive always seem to be interesting. Today, three new images surfaced showing off some unit pics from the game. Fans of the Sudden Strike series may be pleased to find out that the new game has gone to a 3D style engine. Some people may need to upgrade their computers if they plan to enjoy this one. Most reports state that the game plays sluggish on dated systems. It looks like 3Ghz will be the standard for playing this title.

We’ll all get a chance to play FaceBreaker on September 5. This will be the first good “cartoony” boxing title we’ve seen in a very long time. So far, all the screenshots and gameplay videos look great. If you happen to own a Wii, there will also be a different version of the game titled FaceBreaker K.O. Party released for that console.

New images of the “PSP-3000″ originating from China have been all over the internet today. Many sites are claiming that this is proof that there is a new PSP model currently in production. The photos aren’t high quality enough for me to decide, so believing is up to you. If these are correct by chance, it looks like it has a built-in mic and several changes to the physical appearance of the system.

We wanted to go ahead and wish everyone a Happy 4th (even our Canadian readers)! I hope most of you get the chance to take it easy this weekend and have a little fun with your friends and family. This is a great chance to get off the internet and have a little fun in the non-virtual world. If you can’t think of too many things to be happy about, just realize that by next year at this time, GW will no longer be in office.
Drink plenty of beer and light a sparkler or two…
When you mix Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts and God of War what do you get? Well, I’m putting myself out on a limb here, but I’m very excited about this mythological adventure game ‘Rise of the Argonauts’. Coming to PC, X360 and PS3 this Fall, why not take a chance on this one? The trailer alone has me sold. I know many God of War fans, myself included, are antsy for their upcoming title, but I think Rise of the Argonauts will hold its own.
