First quarter of Crysis is brilliant. The rest of the game is shit. What Cevat Yerli talked about in the hype train that lead up to the release of Crysis, was, among other broken promises, aliens popping out of the ice they just had frozen, ambushing you from underneath the surface. We see that exact action taking place in the new trailer for Crysis Warhead, which puts you in the shoes of Sergeant Psycho Psyches, and his amazing adventures on the other side of the island, while Nomad is kicking it back with the alien mothership and what-not.
Where the original Crysis took a bad path was the first time the player was put inside a vehicle. The rest I do not need to spoil for those who still haven’t got an extra-dimensional PC to play it, but needless to say the game transforms from an open world, free style combat game, into a corridor shooter.
So, when half of the new trailer shows off footage of vehicle combat, it doesn’t bode well. Let’s hope Crytek get at least a quarter of the game right this time as well…
