Making it’s debut to a DLC demo near you in 2009, Resident Evil 5.  Official Release date is March 13th, 2009.

Why do we care?, well because of the great success of Resident Evil 4.  It also seems that most of the controversy surrounding the game has finally died down (about time).  (If you don’t recall, back when Resident Evil released it’s first trailer many were bothered to see that the protagonist (White Caucasion Male) killing the hostile African Villager Zombie’s (Black) were in deed black.)  I guess once Capcom decided to feature an African female agent, everyone settled down.  I got a problem with all this, where are all the Spanish Zombies pickpocketing and mowing everyone’s lawn?  Or the Jewish Zombies trying to bargain themselves a good deal on some fresh brains?  Or… I’m ranting, let me not!

We all knew that Japan was getting the Resident Evil 5 co-op demo on December 5, but we had yet to hear a word about a North American demo date. According to Gaming Today, Capcom has confirmed that a co-op demo will be coming out way, just sometime after December 5.

Capcom has announced that Street Fighter IV’s release date will be February 17th.

Exactly twelve years after Street Fighter III was released in February of 1997, Street Fighter IV will be making it’s long awaited debut in February of 2009. We’ve all seen the screenshots, and one of our very own, Carlos Macias, went to the only US embargoed Street Fighter IV cabinet based in good ole California. So are we excited, hell yeah. After all the Street Fighter iterations, we deserve a part IV.

Capcom has been hitting us hard this week with all their updates… which we like.. a lot.

When we first saw the trailer for Resident Evil 5, we were as scared and perplexed as everyone else. There was a big debate as to the zombie’s color skin, which I thought was ridiculous. Everyone knows that Zombies are people who watch live tapings at the Oprah Show. You know the type, line up for hours waiting in front of the studio while their husbands are at work supporting their overweight addictions. Sorry, I got a bit off-topic there. But seriously, do all of Oprah’s guests have to be close to 350lbs and sport a bowl cut? Eww, gross…

Joining the ever popular list of digital downloads, Capcom will have their own section on the PlayStation Network.

For those wondering what new items you’ll see on the PlayStation Network, you’ll be treated to everything that is Capcom. All of Capcom’s digital downloads, demo’s, themes etc. will be located within the “capcom Department”. Not only will this be a huge bonus to PSN fans, but expect future exclusives brought to you courtesy of Capcom.

Within this “Capcom Store”, you’ll be able to browse through all Capcom digital content available from PlayStation Network. Once inside the Capcom category, you will notice that all their content is sorted by title. This allows you easy access to view all content related to a particular game. This includes all full game content, demo and promotional items (themes, wallpapers, etc).

Capcom has officially released their latest screenshots of the re-release of SSFIITHDR.  Now that’s what I call an acronym.

Coming VERY soon, Capcom’s Super Street Fighter II will be featured in none other than 1080p goodness.  I’ve always been a fan of the Street Fighter series, but never have been a fan of all their naming conventions.  They lost me after Super Street Fighter II.  Why not go up the number ladder like Mega Man did.  Just like “The Matrix” movies, I couldn’t tell you which was part 2 then 3.  Was Revolutions Part 2 or Reloaded?  Ah make it easy on us, like “Friday the 13th”.  Wait, what part is Freddy vs. Jason?  Screens below:

Looking sweet on any 1080p TV, SFII HD comes to Xbox 360 and PS3 this November.

We got some screens that will make you salivate all over your controller.  OK, not really but at least they’ll have you saying “Wow, that’s a spicy meatball!”  Your favorite Street Fighters characters will all be available totalling up to 17 playable fighters.  I’ve rarely strayed away from Ryu (pronounced Rye-you) and Ken.  I can honestly say that I’ve used Zangief maybe 3 times in my life, I’ll bet he looks great in 1080p but he still really sucks!

This writer was only a few months into life when the first Mega Man hit Japan in 1987. The first conscious memory of the “blue bomber” comes in the form of Mega Man X on the SNES where “Rockman” could slide on walls and charge his never-ending shots. Mega Man 9 is the retro-culmination of a series stripped down to the fundamentals that were perfected with Mega Man 2, according to fans of wrinkly-old games. What does a gamer without the nostalgia for the series think of the game? Continue reading »

All the Wii people in the world were sad when they realized that Street Fighter IV wouldn’t make it to their console in a million years. Capcom will be bringing some exclusive titles to the Wii like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, so that’s certainly something to get excited about.

According to Famitsu, this game will be coming to the Wii and it will be a console exclusive. I’ve been reading Famitsu articles for some time and if they say it’s true, it’s probably true. Check out the article at Nintendic that lays out some good information on the title!

Jim Sterling recently posted an article on Destructoid concerning the issue of Street Fighter IV and lag. Apparently, the biggest problem facing the Capcom team and Street Fighter IV is major lag during online battles. Hopefully, the can fix the issue, because poor online gameplay due to major lag will certainly bury this game’s hopes of being one of the best fighting games. Here’s what Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono had to say:

Obviously lag will be a huge problem for online play. We’re working on it. It’s quite difficult for 3D Street Fighter at the moment,” explained Ono. In order to prevent the lag we’re thinking about trying to balance it up at [the] user interface level and input timing. We still haven’t got a complete plan as yet. We’re still working on it. That’s all we can say at the moment.”

Street Fighter IV may be the coolest fighting game I have ever seen in the visual department, so we can only hope everything else falls in place. I’ve never been a huge fan of Street Fighter, but the interesting visuals in SF IV have certainly peaked my interest in the series.
