Publicly. No Need for Pesky Download Codes.

We’ve been playing the CoD: World at War beta at the Kezins Office for the last couple of weeks, but now everyone is welcome to join. Activision has thrown up the game on Xbox Live waters for all to play, peruse, and criticize.

It reminds us a lot of that little game — you may not have heard of it — Call of Duty 4, but now with the added benefit of scary attack dogs shadowing your every step! Even more (easy) kills after a 7-kill streak? Tsk, tsk.

Kezins.com is offering away “A” COD5 Beta Key for the Xbox 360 to one of our “helpful” readers.

UPDATE: Winner has been emailed.  I’d like to thank those that gave us suggestions and I have a great memory, so I’ll make note of those that participated and will be more sensitive next giveaway

Winning suggestion goes to our reader Dave:

“- Open up a forum
- Remove the un necessary clutter of Archives and Categories and add a “Archives” and “News” to the taskbar with player reviews.
- Add a main section for kezins.com that gives the option to navigate to certain areas.
- Allow people to register.
- Get a Banner or a new symbol.
- Instead of having icons for reviews, have sections and just the name of game.”

We’re giving away one key, but hey it’s better than NOT giving away one.  Our rules are simple, suggest an idea that would make our site “more complete”, and you win.  Winner will be announced on Friday, so you can enjoy a nice long weekend of Call of Duty: World at War… watch out for those damn dogs!

Drop a suggestion in our “comments” section… win the key.

Well, if you were lucky enough to get yourself a Beta key yesterday from EuroGamer.net then you experienced a long wait and your patience was tested.  In the end, it was worth it.  For those unfortunate gamers that didn’t get a key, I might have some information worth reading on about.

How do I join the beta?

Several thousand invitations are in the process of being sent out today by email. If you do not receive an email from SCE today, you will also be able to sign up over the next 5 days on a variety of popular gaming sites. I cannot name the sites here, however the LittleBigPlanet News Site will be giving out more details tomorrow. If any further places to sign up are made available I’ll update this thread again.

As of now, 6pm EDT no email Beta keys were sent.  But who needs it when you got a close friend who has a EuroGamer key…

We’ll try and post what sites, and when they will be handing out their keys will take place.

Wonder what happened to Nathan Hale?  Find out on November 4th!

Coming to a PlayStation 3 console near you, Resistance 2 has an official release date.  We’ve seen previous screens and gameplay, so there’s no doubt that the 2nd wave of Chimera will be a hit!  For $59.99 you can pick up yourself Resistance 2 and experience Nathan Hale’s quest as it begins in good ole San Francisco.

Looking for the upgrade, the special edition priced at $79.99 comes with added benefits:

  • Copy of Resistance 2 with special edition cover artwork.
  • A double-sided art book covering “war-torn America from two unique perspectives.”
  • A bonus DVD with a behind-the-scenes video, a preview of an upcoming Resistance 2 novel, a Resistance chronology video, and a digital copy of issue #0 of the Resistance comic.
  • An exclusive in-game HVAP Wraith multiplayer weapon skin.
  • And last but not least, a Chimera Hybrid action figure created by DC Unlimited.

Multiplayer and the aspect of the game I’ve been looking forward to, co-op, will have a beta session in October.  Here are the 3 ways to possible be selected:

  1. Pre-order Resistance 2 from a participating retailer
  2. Purchase Qore episode 3 (annual subscribers already entered)
  3. Apply for the beta at Insomniac’s official site, but there’s no guarantee your name will be picked.

The title pretty much says it all. Five teenagers were arrested in Chicago for breaking into a video game store and looting merchandise. The strange part is that two of the criminals nearly escaped the scene, but they asked police officers for a ride home and that’s how they were caught.

I’m not sure if these guys were gamers or not, but they ceratainly need to play a little more Grand Theft Auto IV. They could probably learn a thing or two from our good friend Niko Bellic when it comes to the proper way s of evading police. These guys may actually make our list of “world’s dumbest gamer criminals”.

We decided to use the Beta image of Niko above because these guys don’t deserve the real thing.

If you were wondering what’s going on with the famous Wii Homebrew Channel, the following video will certainly make your day.

“The Homebrew Channel is a channel for launching Wii homebrew applications without the need to run the Twilight Hack first. It will list apps stored and organised on an SD card in a nice little GUI, which you can very easily customise with descriptions and shiny little .png icons all by yourself if you want. You can also launch homebrew apps via TCP (with a correctly configured PC) or USB Gecko. Both of those built in options make it extremely convenient for testing out new code, as well as a general purpose homebrew launcher. You’ve seen the video, now try it yourself!”

Most of you have heard about how the Red Faction: Guerilla Beta is now free to play.  Originally, it was going to cost players $15 to take part in it.  Now they have a deal where you can play it for free, but have to fill out a lengthy survey at FilePlanet.  Before you waste your time filling out the survey, keep in mind the fact that they are out of keys.  They will also not tell you this until you have completed the long survey.  It’s kind of shady if you ask me, but that’s how companies are sometimes. I certainly felt misled by the promotion and wasted 5-10 minutes of my time and got nothing in return.  They should really mention that keys are out prior to having you waste time…

Here’s the link but don’t expect a key:
