I was searching around the net to see if any new KOTOR 3 news had surfaced, but came up empty handed in that department. However, I did discover that KOTOR era mineratures got an expansion of 60 different characters and the KOTOR Campaign Guide is now available. RPG players should rejoice that Wizards of the Coast now has these items on the market. If you aren’t experienced with traditional RPGs, you might want to check the Star Wars options out. Any fan of the films, comic books or video games will probably be interested in what they find.

To find out more about these items, check out the article on TheForce.Net.

KOEI announced today that a free demo of Romance of The Three Kingdoms®XI (RTKXI) for Windows-based PC is available now. Gamers can visit www.koei.com/rtkxipc to view the official trailer and download the demo.  I’ve only had about 30 minutes to check out the demo, but it’s certainly getting me excited about the game.  It seems like I was playing the original game yesterday.  Of course yesterday was the 1980s and I was playing it on an Amiga.  XI has been around for a little while, but this is the first time we’ll see a PC version of the game in English.

The complete version of the game will be available to consumers in North America and Brazil beginning September 9, 2008 exclusively through digital download.  I’m sure the game will eventually end up in stores, but online will be the only way to get it in the beginning.  The suggested retail price is only $19.99, so the game isn’t a bad buy for what you are getting.

This year’s Toronto Game Jam (ToJAM) took place between May 9 and May 11, 2008. During this time, 34 games were created by various developers and visual artists. All 34 games are now available for download on their website. This may not be a big deal for some gamers, but I find that it’s extremely important to support indie gaming whenever possible. With names like ‘Cheese is WAR’ and ‘MoonCheeseMoney’, how could you possibly go wrong?

Our personal favorite game from the event was ‘Seas Of Cheese’, despite the fact that it finished in 3rd place.

Check out their site and download some of the games!!!

The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV

For those of you who didn’t purchase the limited edition of GTA IV, you can still pick up the soundtrack on Amazon.  The Feed recently posted a review of the soundtrack on their site, but they may be giving it too much credit.  In my opinion, the best songs in the game are not actually on the disc.  While the soundtrack is a pretty good eclectic mix of hip-hop, dance music and jazz fusion, it simply fell short. My advice to people interested in the music from the game is to just pick up the individual songs you like from iTunes or other music download services.

“SAINTS OF LOS ANGELES” FROM UPCOMING MÖTLEY CRÜE ALBUM AVAILABLE THROUGH ROCK BAND BEGINNING APRIL 15 ON XBL AND APRIL 17 ON PSN.

In a new turn of events, Harmonix and MTV Games announced today that Mötley Crüe will be the first group to release a brand-new song as a playable track in the innovative ROCK BAND game. The highly anticipated new track, “Saints of Los Angeles,” released on Mötley Records, will be available for download for $0.99 beginning on April 15th via Xbox Live Marketplace (80 Microsoft Points) and on April 17th via the PLAYSTATION®Store.

The positive revenue from video games has caught up to the rest of the media world. If this move becomes a success, we should continue to see these kind of exclusive gaming releases.

“With the addition of this track to the Rock Band library, there are now more than 80 tracks available for download in addition to the 58 tracks in the original game. In three months since its release, gamers have purchased more than 6 million downloadable songs for Rock Band since its launch on November 20, 2007.”
