I’m sure many of you are fans of the ‘Girls of Gaming’ by Play Magazine. I was doing a little research on the magazine for a future article and was surprised that the top search result for “Girls of Gaming” in Google led to a pirated version of the magazine on Scribd. Since the actual paid version of the magazine does not allow sharing of the file, it looks like some noob took some fairly poor screen captures of the PDF and turned it into a version anyone can download on the internet. I suppose the title might suggest we support pirating, which we actually don’t. But…if you are going to be a pirate, at least be a good one. If you want quality, just go and download the real thing HERE, but you have to actually pay real money to see it.
Jim Sterling recently posted an article on Destructoid concerning the issue of Street Fighter IV and lag. Apparently, the biggest problem facing the Capcom team and Street Fighter IV is major lag during online battles. Hopefully, the can fix the issue, because poor online gameplay due to major lag will certainly bury this game’s hopes of being one of the best fighting games. Here’s what Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono had to say:
“Obviously lag will be a huge problem for online play. We’re working on it. It’s quite difficult for 3D Street Fighter at the moment,” explained Ono. “In order to prevent the lag we’re thinking about trying to balance it up at [the] user interface level and input timing. We still haven’t got a complete plan as yet. We’re still working on it. That’s all we can say at the moment.”
Street Fighter IV may be the coolest fighting game I have ever seen in the visual department, so we can only hope everything else falls in place. I’ve never been a huge fan of Street Fighter, but the interesting visuals in SF IV have certainly peaked my interest in the series.
The new Acer ‘Predator’ gaming PC is here and it certainly looks badass. The computer casing was inspired by Lamborghini and it shows. Gameplayer recently had the fortunate chance to test Call of Duty 4 on the system and they say “it was hard not to be impressed”. Is the system worth $4,000 - $8,000? I’m not sure, but Gameplayer’s article makes it sound like it might be.
This was one of the best weeks we’ve had on the site in a long time. As far as traffic, it was probably the best week we have had in 2 months, which makes all of us happy. We’d like to thank our loyal readers and random visitors for making things happen. Hopefully we can expand and make some bigger things happen if we continue the way we have been. Our top article received over 15,000 unique views this week and covered the topic of the famous “Wilhelm Scream”.
This hasn’t been the most exciting week in video game news, but there’s always something worth checking out. If you want to send us an article link in the future, feel free to send it to tips@kezins.com. We read articles from hundreds and hundreds of game blogs each week, but we’ll always miss something. It’s not possible to catch every story out there. If you have a site you’d like us to check out, feel free to contact us. Here’s our picks for the top news in video games for the weekend:
I just finished “bashing” the Wii with my last article but now I have some good things to talk about. Many people are talking about Mad World coming to the Wii and they aren’t all happy about it. Some people think it shouldn’t be coming to a “family friendly” system. I say “to hell” with that notion. Freedom is a great thing and if they don’t like the game, don’t buy the game. It’s that simple. From what I’ve seen, Mad World may actually turn out to be a pretty good game. We’re certainly not looking at another rubbish title like ‘Manhunt 2′.
We’d like to know what you think about ‘Mad World’ so far. Is it a good thing it’s headed to the Wii?
I’m not sure what the hell is wrong with the editors of Vogue magazine, but they now have an issue out with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) posing buck naked with a horse. This isn’t the first time Radcliffe posed naked with animals and we’re honestly tired of it and think this whole naked with animals thing needs to come to a swift end. To make things even worse, this article in the magazine was written to help promote a play in which the actor simulates sexual ecstasy while riding a horse naked. So basically we have a 17 year-old (borderline child porn) in a play that involves animal love or “bestiality” as the pervs like to call it and somehow this is “ok” with everyone. Even though he’s probably too old at this point, I’d rather see Radcliffe to go back to doing Harry Potter or some non-zoophilic role that isn’t so disturbing.

GoNintendo recently posted an interesting article titled ‘Why is the Wii so unloved compared to PS3 & Xbox 360?’ While hate is a strong word, there are plenty of reasons that the Wii isn’t getting as much love from certain gamers and game media outlets. When I sit back and try to think of the really good games on the Wii, I can only name a handful. If you want me to list the terrible Wii games, that would be over 90% of the games released for the system. The graphics are mediocre and last-generation at best. Nintendo has pretty much abandoned the core gamer with the Wii and gone in the direction of mass market appeal, which they have obviously had tons of success with. I can’t knock Nintendo entirely, because they have made some sound business decisions. Sometimes the minority is left out in these decisions, even if the minority is the reason Nintendo had huge success back in the 1980s and 1990s. Continue reading »
We write a ton of posts on Kezins.com, so it doesn’t take long for an article to work it’s way off the front page and into the abyss where some people may never find them. Because of this, we have decided to post links to our most popular articles from the week each Saturday. Some articles may be from long ago, yet still popular like Juan’s “7 Greatest Video Game Urban Legends”. If you’d like to see our all-time most popular posts, just click on Top Posts at the top menu.
What the hell is ‘Cheetah Girls: Passport to Stardom’?. I’m sure anyone reading this article will probably wonder the same thing. Don’t worry. I asked myself the exact same thing when I heard about the new Nintendo DS game hitting shelves tomorrow. I assumed it had something to do with singing, dancing and fashion accessories and was somehow right.
The game will include various songs from the Cheetah Girls movies. Of course I’ve never watched any of them, so really can only go on what I was able to dig up with my Google-fu skills. According to Wikipedia, the game will include the following features:
Play as Aqua, Chanel, and Dorinda as they dazzle fans worldwide with their music and dance coreography.
Explore 9 different locations as you perform in three international cities- New York, Barcelona and Mumbai!
Use your Nintendo DS stylus to compete in a series of dance-offs to 10 Cheetah Girls hit songs!
Includes DGamer- the new online community exclusively for Disney gamers.
Unfortunately there really aren’t any other games of note coming out this weekend. It’s been a rather slow week in games anyway. The only game of note coming out in the near future is Madden 09 on Tuesday.
