Well, it looks like all those rumors about a new device are true. Nintendo announces their latest handheld system, the DSi.

In a Japan News Conference, Nintendo announced today their latest handheld system and it’s called the DSi. Similar to the previous DSLite, with some leaner muscle. Nintendo’s also launching an online DSi shop, which will sell content directly over WiFi - including a free browser app. It’ll take Wii Points, which are being renamed Nintendo Points. Couple of things we know right now:

- Screen is 3.25 inches
- No GBA slot
- 12% thinner
- SD slot, and internal storage
- 2 cameras, main cam 3 megapixels
- Comes in White and Black
- Releasing in Japan Nov. 1st
- Releasing everywhere else 2009
- Download games from a “DSi Shop” over Wi-Fi, and save them to the SD card. The games are called “DSi Ware” (a la Wii Ware), and are available for 200, 500, or 800 points.

Leipzig, Germany - SCEE spokesman Nick Caplin says “It’s not going to happen. If you’re coming for that you’ll be disappointed,” speaking about Sony PlayStation’s 3 price cut.

Those expecting for Sony to announce a price cut for the PS3 aren’t getting their wish this year. In Leipzig, on August 20-22, Europe’s Biggest Video Games Fair, many expected Sony to make this announcement of a price cut. With sales of the PS3 getting stronger in this year, the PS3 is no longer required to lower it’s prices. I mean Sony has already dropped their prices from the very high price of $599 for the 60gb system. One this writer picked up…

In the 12 months ending March 31, Sony sold 9.24 million units, below its initial estimates of 11 million sales.

In tribute of this past weeks announcement of Mega Man 9, we’re going back to 1987 to bring you how it all started… Mega Man part uno.  Known to some as Rockman, Megaman, developed by Capcom, was a side scrolling action NES game.  Mega Man was the only NES Mega Man title to feature a score counter.  I consider Mega Man to be one of the first strategic games due to the Robot Master attributes you gain after you defeat them.  For ex. The easiest way to kill CutMan relies not in your Mega Buster, but in your Super Arm that you got from GutsMan in the last stage.

Characters

  • Mega Man — Tool assistant, originally known as Rock (or Mega in the remake), created and modified by Dr. Light to combat Wily.
  • Dr. Albert W. Wily — The antagonist of the game, his goal is world domination. He appears as the final boss in a hovering ship (at first a tank-like machine in the remake).
  • Dr. Thomas Light — Creator of Mega Man, aids Mega Man on his adventure to stop Dr. Wily.
  • Roll — Mega Man’s sister, she makes her debut in this game, though in the NES version her name is not mentioned. She is only seen at the ending of the credits in the NES version, but she can be downloaded in the PSP remake as a playable character.
  • Robot Masters — Cutman, Gutsman, Elecman, Fireman, Iceman, and Bombman.

Mega Man is made up of six stages, with a Robot Master at the end guarding a weapon. The stage select screen allows the player to choose from these six stages, and when they are all completed, the seventh and last stage appears in the middle of the menu, replacing the text “Stage Select, Press Start”. This last stage is in fact more like four regular stages linked together, some a bit shorter than average, but with bosses that are considered harder than usual.

Mega Man 9 is due out on the XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.  We’ll keep you updated with all the news “Mega Man 9″ related.

We expect an exciting press conference this Monday from Microsoft at E3. There are plenty of rumors out there, so we’ll try to only report the ones we feel are credible. The biggest rumor we expect is the announcement of Halo 4. Word on the street is that the game will NOT feature Master Chief as the main character. If this is true, it could possibly hurt the franchise. I just hope the lead character will be up to snuff.

Other things we expect:

  • ‘Rock Band 2′ will be featured.
  • ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ should be talked about.
  • Microsoft will add some hype to ‘Dead Space’
  • Perhaps we’ll hear something about Fable 2 having online co-op.
  • Xbox 360 price cuts and new SKU!

With any E3, it’s hard to say exactly what will happen, but we’re fairly certain that at least a few of the things I mentioned above will take place.

How many more days of teasers were we going to see on Blizzards’ site.  After 8 long years since Diablo 2, fans will not need to wait much longer.  With the Announcement of Diablo 3 conveniently before E3, we can say “expect to see it there”.  In the meantime, “What info do we know about Diablo 3?.. not much but here’s what we DO know”:

Two decades have passed since the demonic denizens, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, wandered the world of Sanctuary in a vicious rampage to shackle humanity into unholy slavery. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils directly, the memory fades slowly and the wounds of the soul still burn.

When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram’s Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells–and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.

- Explore a fully-realized Sanctuary–the living, breathing gothic fantasy world of Diablo III rendered in gorgeous 3D.

- Battle the unholy forces of the Burning Hells with all-new character classes like the otherworldly Witch Doctor, or with re-imagined warriors from Diablo’s past: such as the fierce Barbarian.

- Rain Hell on your enemies wielding the interactive environment as a weapon: lay cunning traps, turn destructible objects against your foes, and use environmental obstacles to your advantage–all powered by the Havoc physics system.

- Experience the intensity of multiplayer Diablo III over an all-new, wickedly-enhanced Battle.net platform with numerous enhancements to make connecting with your friends easier–and cooperative gameplay more fun.

Diablo will again focus on cooperative play, and feature the return of Deckard Cain.  You’ll also get a new class called the Witch Doctor who’ll have access to jungle magic and be able to summon animals and insects, inflict diseases, and mind-control enemies.

This week Adam takes a look at Left 4 Dead, one of the cooler titles we have seen in recent months.  When I first heard about the title, I was wondering if we really needed another apocalyptic zombie game.  It seems like every time one is made, it ends up being too cheesy.  I’ve been anticipating this game since it’s announcement back in 2006 and we really don’t have much longer to wait.  If you are unfamiliar with Sessler’s Soapbox, you might want to check it out each week.  Adam tells it like it is.
