For all of you smart shoppers out there, Kezins brought word of a special deal tied to this week’s release of Saints Row 2 earlier. The game was confident enough to play with reviewers pre-release this week; getting favorable reviews across the board. If you’re hoping for some scares just in time for Halloween, you should look forward to Dead Space, as well, which made its way into the coveted “Good” reviews area.

If, for some reason, your interests veer past triple-A games, you’ll be interested to know that Blitz II, My Japanese Coach (cool!), and SOCOM: Confrontation also make an appearance. Oh, yeah, and Rock Revolution. *barf*

I haven’t been playing as many different games in 2008 as I did last year. In 2007, I made enough money from blogging to pay rent, child support, car insurance, buy clothes and food, and travel extensively. I was also working for the Virginia Tech Police Department in 2007 on the side, so the side full-time job gave me plenty of money to bank. On top of that, I was pulling in the G.I. Bill. Unfortunately my G.I. Bill ran out and I’m still a few semesters away from my BA. 2008 hasn’t been so kind. I haven’t made 1/10 of what I pulled in last year in blogging and I was unemployed for most of this year. I finally landed a full-time job this week (with a modest salary), but the blogging revenue simply isn’t there yet. Last year, I could buy any game or system on a whim, because I had extra cash always floating around. Things just aren’t so fortunate now, so I have to cut back on my gaming. I haven’t been receiving many games to review lately, but it looks like I’ll definitely be receiving Dead Space from Electronic Arts this week. You never know what I’ll end up receiving, but here’s my plans for now:

Which Type of Gamer Are you?

The Video Game Blog recently posted a link to TechFresh Video Games that I had to click on.  With a picture like the one above, I really had no choice but to find out what was going on. The link takes you to the interesting photo above and that page has a link to an interesting quiz.  I can certainly say that the image was appropriate and the NES Power Glove never looked so good…

Do you like to take on the enemy with a massive blaster, or do you like to discover unexplored lands?  Do you like to stimulate your optic nerves or do you like to solve brain tickling puzzles, or meet hot virtual girls?  Take this quiz and find out.

The following video is one of the better “Nintendo Facts” clips I have seen on the net. It’s a little creepy with this weird guy stroking his cat and lounging on a bed in his bathrobe at one point, but it’s well worth a view. I knew 20 of the facts in the video already, but had no idea that Nintendo ran a “pay by the hour” love hotel at one point in history. At first I thought this was made up, but I did some research. The hotel actually existed and was often frequented by Fusajiro Yamauchi himself.  Who would have known that Nintendo was founded by a perv?

Back in the days of Playstation 1 Crash Bandicoot, picked up where Sonic the Hedgehog left off.  Well now he’s back, and he’s still breaking those darn crates.

Released on October 7th for the Xbox360, Wii, PS2, DS, PSP but NOT PS3. Strange, since Crash Bandicoot made his appearance on the PS1, maybe they felt the graphics weren’t suitable for a PS3 port. I can only speculate.

“In Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant, a rejuvenated Neo Cortex is taking over the world one brain at a time! Cortex and N. Brio devise a new kind of evil; a text-messaging, do-anything device which controls both mutant and bandicoot minds. Armed with his quick-wits and lightening agility, Crash must free his friends, the titans and save the day!”

Boomp3.com (Run time: 7:22)

In an effort to keep the ‘ish going on a semi-regular basis we invited (read: hassled) a Texas friend of the show, Jeremy Lowe, to talk some games with Carlos today. They dig into some LittleBigPlanet, Tekken 6, God of War “sacrifices” and bunch of other Tokyo Game Show related news. Also, notice how we disregard Jeremy’s daughter, Victoria, first podcast appearance in the background.

The Nintendo Wii has been a success in all corners of the world. I even heard reports that they are playing Wii Bowling in the caves of Afghanistan and even in remote locations such as Canada. While surfing YouTube, I discovered an interesting Korean Wii commercial. Enjoy!

While surfing YouTube for new gaming videos, I came across one titled “How To Download Nintendo Wii Games On Your PC 100% Free”. I see these kinds of videos all the time and they usually take you to some random Warez site that will try give you a free virus instead of a free game download. It looks like Anasayfa - TRfighters site advertised in the following video features a “legitimate” collection of pirated ROMs. Calling a pirate site “legitimate” is an oxymoron in ways, but it’s certainly not as shady as most I have seen. What surprised me about the site is the fact that it’s not in English, yet I easily found my way around their pages.

I’d like to note that downloading Wii games to play on your PC is highly illegal and we’re not endorsing the action of pirating software or games. I thought some of you might find the video interesting. I’m sure YouTube will pull it before long.

Video Game Releases 10/6

This week was kind of lame in game releases so we admit, yes, we kind of forgot (oops!) about our weekly “drop” report. Please, don’t spear us — “Ice Age” reference.

For those of you playing on PC exclusively, Hell’s Highway should be fun and…well, some big basketball games coming out this week. Choose between NBA Live and NBA 2K9. Other than that, you’re better off saving those pennies you turned into cash at the coin machine for next week.
