For all of you smart shoppers out there, Kezins brought word of a special deal tied to this week’s release of Saints Row 2 earlier. The game was confident enough to play with reviewers pre-release this week; getting favorable reviews across the board. If you’re hoping for some scares just in time for Halloween, you should look forward to Dead Space, as well, which made its way into the coveted “Good” reviews area.
If, for some reason, your interests veer past triple-A games, you’ll be interested to know that Blitz II, My Japanese Coach (cool!), and SOCOM: Confrontation also make an appearance. Oh, yeah, and Rock Revolution. *barf*

Another fine episode this week with the gang over at R3match Radio. The special guest this time around was site co-founder, Ryan, who talked up some old arcade machines. Golden Tee ‘99, anyone?
Official word from the site:
Mmmm. We sure were hungry after recording this week’s episode — does it show? Listen in as R3match Co-founder, Ryan, talks about some of the classic arcade games he’s been digging into, Jason finally plays Mega Man 9, and Carlos, well, Rock Band 2 (as always) and Mega Man: Powered Up. Wii HD, Nintendo’s DSi, and Gears of War 2 day one goodies makes the news and Juan…where are you?
Valve gave us the greatest value in gaming with last year’s Orange Box — where the entire Half-Life 2 saga, so far, made an appearance — including the short and sweet Portal. Maybe a little too short as a mod was released today that will let you play through a “prelude” of the cake-filled story.
As the site states, Portal: Prelude is an “unofficial prequel,” and has been nine months in the making. Unfortunately, only PC gamers get to have fun with this fan-made extension to the game and can download it here.
This week was kind of lame in game releases so we admit, yes, we kind of forgot (oops!) about our weekly “drop” report. Please, don’t spear us — “Ice Age” reference.
For those of you playing on PC exclusively, Hell’s Highway should be fun and…well, some big basketball games coming out this week. Choose between NBA Live and NBA 2K9. Other than that, you’re better off saving those pennies you turned into cash at the coin machine for next week.

The podcastin’ crew at R3match Radio dug into someone’s “shoe box” this week along with an interesting chat about Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and some of the outrage over it.
Official word from the site:
This week we have a bit of shock with the Warioland YouTube video, Jason still doesn’t get Bioshock, Carlos talks up Rock Band 2, and Juan gives us some insight into Wipeout HD. Listen in and get your fix of the latest news in gaming while our trio craps all over them.
Coming to North America October 28th, and Europe October 31st, Bethesda Softworks brings us Fallout 3. Which would be a real “Treat”. Ok, bad Halloween Joke!
Fans of Oblivion, lend me your ears. The latest screenshots of Fallout 3 are out, and they look pretty cool. For those who aren’t in the know, Fallout 3 sets in a post-apocalyptic United States. Your character is amongst one of the few survivors on the wasteland. Throughout your mission, you’ll encounter the Brotherhood of Steel, a group of technology-coveting survivors, and the Enclave, the elitist and genocidal remnant of the U.S. government.
Well, it looks like all those rumors about a new device are true. Nintendo announces their latest handheld system, the DSi.
In a Japan News Conference, Nintendo announced today their latest handheld system and it’s called the DSi. Similar to the previous DSLite, with some leaner muscle. Nintendo’s also launching an online DSi shop, which will sell content directly over WiFi - including a free browser app. It’ll take Wii Points, which are being renamed Nintendo Points. Couple of things we know right now:
- Screen is 3.25 inches
- No GBA slot
- 12% thinner
- SD slot, and internal storage
- 2 cameras, main cam 3 megapixels
- Comes in White and Black
- Releasing in Japan Nov. 1st
- Releasing everywhere else 2009
- Download games from a “DSi Shop” over Wi-Fi, and save them to the SD card. The games are called “DSi Ware” (a la Wii Ware), and are available for 200, 500, or 800 points.
It’s not much of a confirmation or specific release date, but the above paragraph is what you see after registering for the free 20 songs Harmonix/EA/MTV/Whoever promised Rock Band 2 owners in the back of the game’s manual.
It gives you the option to suggest songs you’d want to download. We’d say root for some Kings of Leon, more Strokes, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur, Jr. and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. We think its a good idea. Yup.
