R3match Radio Podcast - Show #3

Jesus + Guitar Hero = Guitar Praise

We thought we had seen all of the cheap Guitar Hero knockoffs but yet another one pops up.  This time it’s Guitar Praise for the PC.  Unlike other GH knockoffs, this one actually costs more than the real thing with the price tag of $99.95.  You can currently pick up Guitar Hero III (PC) with guitar for about $70.  I guess if you want to rock out with Jesus, you’ll be paying extra.

You can pre-order this game to make sure you get your copy in September from the company website. Here’s their description of the experience:

Grab the guitar and play along with top Christian bands! Shred those riffs or blast the bass…you add a unique sound to the solid Christian rock. The New Acer ‘Predator’ Gaming PC

The new Acer ‘Predator’ gaming PC is here and it certainly looks badass.  The computer casing was inspired by Lamborghini and it shows.  Gameplayer recently had the fortunate chance to test Call of Duty 4 on the system and they say “it was hard not to be impressed”.  Is the system worth $4,000 - $8,000?  I’m not sure, but Gameplayer’s article makes it sound like it might be.

Lara Croft’s Evolutionary Spreads

The real-life models who’ve embodied Lara Croft over the years have never disappointed, giving video game fans plenty of beautiful eye candy — whether it be in video game form, advertising, and…Angelina Jolie.

Unfortunately, her video game form hasn’t always been as nicely, umm, shaped. Go Nintendo found an interesting collage of her evolutionary process from blocky, first iconic female game protagonist, to the much hotter, and looser (as in well animated), model in Tomb Raider: Underworld:

Talk about a purely cosmetic, but entirely necessary, upgrade!

The Good, The Bad, and the Unrated…August 25

Wednesday marks the long-awaited launch of the cutesy, but deadly, Castle Crashers which adds some salt to the wound that is the Xbox 360 void caused by the “red ring of death.” Oh, how this writer wishes he could spend all those 1500 pennies ($15, 1200 Microsoft Points) on The Behemoth’s latest romp this week…might have to dip into some PS3-playable games, instead.

For those of you wondering…yes, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam and Spy Fox are real game characters in “real” $20-still-too-expensive games for the trash dump that is the Nintendo Wii. We mean publishers use it as a dumping ground, not that it’s an actual dump…or is it?

The MMO Report

The kind people at G4 sent us the latest episode of the ‘MMO Report’ in an email. They talk a little about Star Trek Online, which is probably the one thing I want to know the most about in the MMO world right now. Here’s what they had to say:

GTA goes to Sin City? New ‘This is Vegas’ Trailer

Midway’s upcoming open-world game set in Las Vegas is your meal ticket to fun after hours on the strip.  ‘This is Vegas’ has a Grand Theft Auto feel to it, with a pinch of PlayStation 3’s ‘Home’.  It’s coming to the X360, PS3, and PC in early 2009.  If this game comes with hookers, crack, and counterfeit money I’d pay $89.99 for the “Special Edition”.  Let it Riiide…

Just because you don’t have Nintendo Cartridges to blow into and carefully put it into your NES to play Zelda doesn’t mean you can’t.
