In tribute of this past weeks announcement of Mega Man 9, we’re going back to 1987 to bring you how it all started… Mega Man part uno.  Known to some as Rockman, Megaman, developed by Capcom, was a side scrolling action NES game.  Mega Man was the only NES Mega Man title to feature a score counter.  I consider Mega Man to be one of the first strategic games due to the Robot Master attributes you gain after you defeat them.  For ex. The easiest way to kill CutMan relies not in your Mega Buster, but in your Super Arm that you got from GutsMan in the last stage.

Characters

  • Mega Man — Tool assistant, originally known as Rock (or Mega in the remake), created and modified by Dr. Light to combat Wily.
  • Dr. Albert W. Wily — The antagonist of the game, his goal is world domination. He appears as the final boss in a hovering ship (at first a tank-like machine in the remake).
  • Dr. Thomas Light — Creator of Mega Man, aids Mega Man on his adventure to stop Dr. Wily.
  • Roll — Mega Man’s sister, she makes her debut in this game, though in the NES version her name is not mentioned. She is only seen at the ending of the credits in the NES version, but she can be downloaded in the PSP remake as a playable character.
  • Robot Masters — Cutman, Gutsman, Elecman, Fireman, Iceman, and Bombman.

Mega Man is made up of six stages, with a Robot Master at the end guarding a weapon. The stage select screen allows the player to choose from these six stages, and when they are all completed, the seventh and last stage appears in the middle of the menu, replacing the text “Stage Select, Press Start”. This last stage is in fact more like four regular stages linked together, some a bit shorter than average, but with bosses that are considered harder than usual.

Mega Man 9 is due out on the XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.  We’ll keep you updated with all the news “Mega Man 9″ related.

Well, when we first reported that Knights of the Old Republic 3 was coming, we were right.  A report on Portfolio.com has confirmed that LucasArts and BioWare are working together to bring KOTOR 3 as an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online).  In an interview at E3 this week, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.

All we can say is “It’s about time!”.

We have the interview below:

Have to admit, after playing Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 I was a little disappointed to find out there weren’t a lot of Legend Wrestlers, so I returned it.  I may be old school, but I’m glad THQ came up with this version of WWE’s Legends of Wrestlemania.  It’s one to pick up… and keep.  Screens alone bring back memories of Wrestlemania III.

Coming in March 2009 to the PS3 and X360.

  • DISTINGUISHED ROSTER AND MANAGERS: More than 40 larger-than-life WWE Legends. Legendary Managers will also have extensive functionality, playing important roles in match outcomes.
  • ABSOLUTE REALISM: Embrace a historically accurate representation of WWE telecasts from the Eighties and Nineties, including dynamic visual treatments, signature ring entrances, renowned commentators, notable venues and much more.
  • COMBO FIGHTING SYSTEM: Explore a new, grapple-based fighting system that captures the high-energy action and drama seen in historic WWE matches. Players will have each Legend’s arsenal of grapple moves, strike attacks, reversals and taunts at their disposal throughout a variety of current and nostalgic match types.
  • WRESTLEMANIA TOUR MODE: Participate in key matches from multiple WrestleMania events. Vintage WWE footage will set up matches, explain feuds and detail the rivalries behind them, situating players in the heart of each contest.
  • CREATE-A-LEGEND: Create the Legends of tomorrow, complete with customizable costumes, entrances, move sets and more.
  • ONLINE FUNCTIONALITY: Challenge players around the world to matches on the biggest stages in WWE history.

Who doesn’t want to put ‘mallow’ over everything? If you say I don’t I’m calling you crazy, kid. I got a fever, and the only “over-the-counter” prescription is ‘more mallow’. I say fire up your proton packs, be sure not to cross the beams, and shoot.

The full cast is back in Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The game’s storyline is being written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, the writers of the original films. They, along with Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, will also lend their voices and likenesses to the game. Several supporting cast members, such as William Atherton (Walter Peck), Brian Doyle-Murray (as the new mayor of New York) and Annie Potts (Janine) have also signed on; however, Rick Moranis (Louis Tully) has refused to be a part of the game, explaining his reluctance to work after the death of his wife and being a single parent

Coming to PS3, X360, Wii, PC, DS and PS2.

Release Dates: September 26th for UK, October 28 for US

At around 11:00PM EST the PS3’s online movie service became live. There is no Firmware needed since it’s a change to the PSN Store. How to get there? Once you enter in the PSN Store you’ll notice a new button at the top labeled “Video”. Click on that button and the page turns to PlayStation Networks list of movies.

The service will provide PS3 and PSP user’s the flexibility of downloading movies.  After you’ve paid for the PS3 movie or TV show, connect your PSP to your PS3 and you be able to transfer the video.  If you’re not sure on what to buy the PSN also offers you to sample “some’ movie titles.

Go ahead, check out the store.  You might just buy RoboCop or Child’s Play.

“In the end, there will only be chaos”

Strong words from our favorite mythology hero, Kratos!  The trailer shows an overhead view of… well, Hell!  As you approach closer to the mountain you’ll see Kratos atop, with his chains and blades bounded to his arms.  This trailer shows a great in-game video, and was a brief teaser of what we can expect in the upcoming weeks.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to control the DC Universe as a villain or hero and change the outcome as we know it.  Well, with Sony Online Entertainment, SOE,  creating this new MMORPG with our favorite characters is possible.  Hire Lex Luther to kill Superman, work with the Joker to battle Batman or fight the speedy red tights hero Flash!

Sony just introduced a new online combat game that is nothing we’ve seen before.  It’s called MAG.  Massive Action Game and it’s a war field combat game that can hold up to 256 Players.  Skirmishes will occur with teams divided up into squads of eight.  The plan is to run it like an MMORPG and have an ongoing campaign that is altered based on the outcome of battles and the actions of individuals, which they hope will compel players to come back for more.  And we’ve got some screens for you here:
