Ariel, one of our favorite commenters, pointed us to Hulu, an on-demand streaming video site, a few weeks ago and this writer is definitely HOOKED. Productivity has seriously been on a downhill curve after visiting with TV shows one has missed because of the annoying thing called “life” and “schoolwork.”

Sure, the site’s main goal, probably, is to attract some of the attention ADD-infused Americans miss out on with the inconvenience of scheduled programming. Regardless, now you can watch a lot of popular shows (”It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “The Moment of Truth,” and plenty others) whenever you want — might even give you a reason to get rid of that pricey TiVo service.

Hulu is ad-run, of course, but it doesn’t give you 3-4 minutes of 50 different commercials you quickly turn away from. Its effective in that it gives you the same commercial over and over, but when it’s only one 15-second (30 seconds max) ad at every break for a show you’re watching on demand? It’s a win-win for both advertisers and watchers.

In a world — cue movie-trailer announcer guy — full of products being forced down our throats with our entertainment choices, it’s nice to know that Hulu is playing nice with the viewer. Even if, after every episode, you get the urge to go out and buy a bottle of “Axe Dark Temptation.” A small price to pay for a cut down in wasted commercial time and convenience. Check it out.
