Deciding who the best Joker was in various comic based films and television shows is no easy task. We recently posted the “Top Five Joker Quotes From ‘Batman: The Dark Knight’” which included the debate of Nicholson vs. Ledger in the comments. This time we want to make it official and poll the readers with the question “who was the best Joker?”
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
Cesar Romero
Cesar Romero was the Joker of the 1960s, playing the role in 18 episodes of the television series. He also reprised the role in the 1966 film.
Jack Nicholson
Nicholson played the Joker in 1989’s Batman. His performance ranks #45 in the American Film Institute’s list of the top 50 film villains of all time.
Roger Stoneburner
Stoneburner played the Joker in two episodes of Birds of Prey.
Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger stole the show in 2008’s The Dark Knight.

Heath Ledger was a close 2nd. Jack Nicholson takes it for his long barrel six shooter.

I still think Jack was the best. Ledger was interesting, but Jack seemed a little more real to me. I think part of that had to do with story development though. They didn’t do a great job developing things in the Dark Knight.

All of the actors played amazing characters. Jack Nicholson being my second favorite, he was more unrealistic, comical, yet Heath Ledger made it maniacal yet he still made complete sense.

The other jokers may have been a little before my time, but as far as Keith Ledger and Jack Nicholson, I have to go with Jack. Keith was a very different and darker reindition of the Joker, but the one thing I felt he lacked was the Joker’s signature Laugh. You gotta have the laugh down to be the Joker.

My bad on the name mispronounciation for Heath. He will be truly missed just as his star light was about to go supernova. RIP
