Best Buy calling MGS4 fans Idiots! Japanese Would Rather Read than Listen
Jun 13

The latest report by the NPD, which tracks video game sales in America, has come in and with it some interesting results.

One of the things speculated from last month’s sales numbers was that the console-selling boost GTA IV was supposed to provide Microsoft and Sony would happen this month, as Rockstar’s game arrived late in April.

This wasn’t so as the Xbox 360 and PS3 sold about the same this month, which lends some credibility to the prediction that the people who bought the game already had either system long beforehand. Wii, as its been doing since launch, reigns supreme…

Hardware Sales:

1. Wii - 675,100
2. DS - 452,600
3. PS3 - 208,700
4. Xbox 360 - 186,600
5. PSP - 182,300
6. PS2 - 132,700

For software sales, hit the break…

The Wii and DS are all over the top 10 list this month with only Grand Theft Auto IV making the list for both Xbox 360 and PS3 — 360 version selling almost twice as the PS3 one. Oh, and no more chart dominance for Call of Duty 4 it seems.

Software Sales:

1. GTA IV (Xbox 360) - 871,300
2. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 787,400
3. Wii Fit (w/ Balance Board) (wii) - 687,700
4. GTA IV (PS3) - 442,900
5. Wii Play w/ remote (Wii) - 294,600
6. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - 171,100
7. Iron Man (PS2) - 130,600
8. Guitar Hero III (Wii) - 116,800
9. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (DS) - 107,000
10. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time (DS) - 102,000
