Grand Theft Auto IV Demands? Gadgets From The Past: Nintendo’s ‘Micro vs. System’
May 12

Now that you have all had time to check out the first Gears of War 2 gameplay video over the weekend, what do you think?  Personally, I’m not all that impressed with what I saw.  I was certainly expecting a step up in graphics and less choppy gameplay, but didn’t see anything in the video that showed me there were many improvements.  It looks like pretty much the same game as the original Gears.  It did look like the pistol was full-auto, which hopefully is an indication that they have improved or at least changed some of the weapons.  To be honest with you, I was not a huge fan of the original game and felt like it was the most over-rated title of 2006.  I’m not saying it was a bad game.  I felt it was a good game, but did not deserve the overwhelming praise it received.

My reasoning behind my feelings for the original Gears primarily deal with the fact that the game at it’s core did not offer anything new in the genre.  The game engine itself was impressive, but the gameplay was severely lacking in my opinion.  I know that’s not the most popular opinion in the world, but it’s a legitimate concern expressed by myself and others.  Fortunately, Gears 2 will be longer and more epic.  They have tweaked the multiplayer elements, but I haven’t had the opportunity to see what changes have been made yet.  Epic also added a chainsaw duel mode which should add some depth to the new title.  From what I have seen so far, I expect Gears 2 to be a slightly better game, but perhaps not as great as some people expect.  If you are a Gears fan, you’ll probably love it.  I just hope they added enough to attract gamers that weren’t so hot on the original.

First of all, your wrong about Gears of War 2 not being that great–it will be a lot better than great, got that? Secondly, the video(or the game demo)Epic games provided was not the finish product because the release date is still several months from now, so in essence, the best is yet to come…trust me. Okay, not everybody likes GoW2, but please, don’t judge it right away just because the demo gameplay was not enough to satisfy you–it is too early to do that, sir! Who knows, Epic(or Cliffy B.) might give their loyal-die-hard-Gears-fans a second demo video any time soon–it could happen, if the first one didn’t “impress” you at all. BUT ‘BIO_SCHMUCK’ WAS BLOWN AWAY, SPEECHLESS, AND REALLY IMPRESSED on the sample gameplay…Epic has done it again!!!

Bio_Schmuck there will only be ONE GOW, and that’s God of War. Can you smell what The Juandrful is baking? or something like that!

@Bio Schmuck: I thought I made my statements fairly fluid. I haven’t said anything definitive about the game yet. I’m just more or less saying I haven’t seen anything that impresses me yet.
