After a month long hiatus, Destructoid’s GameJew returned with another interesting singing review.  I’ll be honest that this is the first time I have even though about City Connection (NES) in many, many years.  Although it wasn’t really a great game or anything, I did enjoy playing it back in the day for what it was worth.

Superhero fashion emergencies seem to be a common themes these days. As much as we love superheroes at Kezins.com, their outfits do seem to gay up the universe quite a bit. The following video is probably one of the best I have seen in some time. The scene with Skeletor singing makes it all worth it…

“One of those things that Konami doesn’t want us to talk about is the ‘total length of cut-scenes’. Hopefully it won’t be bending the rules to [sic] far to reveal that they represent about half of the content of the game.”

So reads a part of Dave McCarthy’s MGS4 review on IGN UK which suggests that come June 12 gamers will be able to enjoy Snake’s latest adventure in equal parts gameplay and cut scenes.

As a gamer who enjoys cut scenes, and especially those as expertly crafted in past Metal Gear Solids, it’s a little worrisome that they’ll take up half of the content on that mister-super-disc BluRay, but if their nicely woven into the gameplay and story they should be fine. We’ll just be ready to have some popcorn and Sour Patch gummies handy, won’t we?

In an age where video game blogging can be done anywhere, are we effected by the high gas crisis? Technology has improved, so the old school way of driving to work, 5 days a week, should be a thing of the past. Well it looks like Ohio’s Kent State University, has proposed the idea to 94 employees and 78 have taken them on it.

“By allowing employees to work four 10-hour days it will save them 20 percent on their commute costs and ease the financial pinch of filling up their cars,” said Oakland County, Michigan, executive L. Brooks Patterson, who last week proposed the compressed week for county workers.”

The dream is over. No more international Tetris DS battles. No more overseas races in Mario Kart DS. Or, at least at McDonalds anymore…you’re free to use your Internet Router at home for worldwide matches on the old Dual Screen (DS), of course.

Long gone are those lazy lunch breaks, though, where this writer has rejoiced in taking kids down worldwide in Planet Puzzle League as the deal between, internet provider, Wayport and, fast-food giant, McDonald’s has ended, according to Knowzy (via DS Fanboy). The free service has usually provided a reliable service for DS and laptop owners, alike, so it comes as bit of a downer but oh, well, that’s business for ya’.

Where is your guys’ next free WiFi hotspot? I know I’m heading to Denny’s next.

Bioshock coming to the PS3 would be good enough news for me. But now the game will be “genetically enhanced” which means it will be oozing with more goodiness. I for sure will be excited to get my drill mittens on this release, but what I’ll be really looking for is on the cover above. Y’all see that little icon in the lower right hand corner, “That’s Right Robyn”, it will also incorporate the PSN “Home”.

While the first Beyond Good & Evil is famous for having been a tremendous flop, it did please more than a few gamers who tried the photography-focused gem. Sure, it featured its share of slowdown and, at times, frustrating controls but hardcore gamers dug it. This time around, though, it looks like the sequel will be geared towards a more casual audience. In talking with Next-Generation, Ubi Soft’s Chief Executive, Yves Guillemot said the following:

“We think the game was probably a little too difficult for the general gamers at that time. We’re going to make it more accessible and make sure that it’s really done for the new generation that’s come into videogames.”

Let’s just hope Mr. Guillemot wont take the much-anticipated sequel too far out and make it so that the controls consist of only waggling and an “A” button.

[Editor's note: With two blockbuster games coming out this year featuring Africa as their playing field, only one has managed to get the racism stamp. In the other, Xper actually finds a way to dig up gender issues. Is there anything this guy won't politicize, and when will he stop talking in third person?]

It has been a known fact for a while, but it was made official when Brian Crecente at Kotaku was told that out of the nine different characters you can choose to play as in Far Cry 2, none of them will be female. There are, in fact, twelve characters, and those other three are the women you won’t be able to embody.

We try to break it down after the jump just why this presents a conundrum in the art of game design, and in the process question the very art we are trying to defend.
