    Exactly 6 million on xbox 360 and 3 million on ps3 :)

  6. GHGHHG on April 18th, 2008 7:19 pm

just for the record GTA4 is gonna is gonna sell the most ever even more than mario bros on super nintendo with 40 million :) EH anything is possible!

  7. mrjuandrful on April 18th, 2008 7:26 pm

I’ll go out on the record to say GTA IV will have a stronger first week than Halo 3 did. Now I’m also using the fact that it will be released on 2 systems. ;)

  8. lucious on April 18th, 2008 8:17 pm

I find it interesting that halo 2 and halo 3 have similar sales. The same type of gamer would buy Gears as well. So if you look at that as the big draws of the xbox, then you look at Gran Turismo, MGS, and Final Fantasy as big draws for the PS3……it truly does look like the xbox is going to slow down and the PS3 is going to pick up considering the PS3 system sellers are starting to hit now til early 2009. Even if you split GTA down the middle of the two systems, things look great this year for the PS3.

Also, I can’t believe the Sega Genesis had such low numbers compared to Nintendo and that the Sega Dreamcast had number even that high……..

This is an eye opening list.

I think GTAIV will sell more than Halo3 did on it’s first week launch! Check up there Grand Theft Auto on ps2 sold more than 17 million..GTAIV is bigger than that and much more hyped..it’ll pass 30 million worldwide at the end of 2008 maybe even more…Although Predictions say IV will sell more on Microsoft’s system..it’s the lead system for developing GTAIV.

I’m predicting about 15 to 19 million sales for GTA IV.. maybe even more, but those will probably be split 60% for 360 version, 40% for PS3. So while it probably will sell more than Halo 3, the sales will be split between two systems.

E.T. for Atari was in no way anywhere near the most wanted game.

It was so hated, it is blamed for being the boulder that finished off Atari.

That is why they bought back all the games they could and buried them in a desert. Then dug them up, crushed them, and buried them again. Then poured concrete over it. It’s quite possible one of the most extreme measures taking ever in gaming history to destroy a horrible game.

Nobody sees it interesting that the first nintendo has been the most successful console even till this day? Also that, Super Mario sales is the best till this day?

  28. kezins on May 14th, 2008 1:12 pm

well..Nintendo has really been in the game longer. With Sega and Atari being knocked out, they obviously have the advantage. I’m not so sure Nintendo will continue their same level of success in the future, but I am sure they aren’t going anywhere. There will probably always be a Nintendo console each generation.

  29. NeoAkirs on May 15th, 2008 12:27 am

I don’t believe your sales figures for PC. I’m sure that either Doom or one of the Half-Life games should be up there.

  30. kezins on May 15th, 2008 4:39 am

@NeoAkirs: Well.. it’s actually very logical that Doom and Half-Life are not on the top 5 list for PC games. It’s because they are both more of a niche game. Stuff like the Sims, WoW etc have much larger fan bases. For example, Doom and Doom 2 sold a combined total of slightly over 4 million copies (PC) (combined). Back in the 1990s, that basically put the Doom series as one of the top sellers for the decade.

Upper-case that ‘t’ in ‘the’ for Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2. Sonic’s middle name is The and the titles of the games are his full name.

  33. kezins on May 16th, 2008 11:33 pm

“Sonic the Hedgehog®” is precisely how SEGA originally registered the original game. Capitalizing the ‘t’ would actually be the wrong way to do it.

Pokemon really owns the portable gaming niche. They just have so many colors. I never understood where the naming convention for the Pokemon series came from.

  38. KillTheDrama on May 21st, 2008 1:57 am

I understand not listing all the different ataris. But you totally forgot the Sega CD and Panasonic 3DO. Personally, Sega CD sucked balls, and 3DO was just too ahead of its time. But you cant say “every gaming platform” without listing these and others.
