April 30, 2008

“Good will come to those who wait” - Damn fortune cookie from Bon Buffet was right! It was bound to happen. PixelJunks Monsters is by far the best casual game on the PSN. So some big wigs at Sony threw a bunch of Q Games developers in a cell and had them create new add-on’s to the PSN instant classic. For all those wifes/girlfriends/sisters/daughters out there who can hardly wait for these goodies to show up on the PSN… expect them to come sometime in May.

Here are some of the new features you can expect to see:

* 15 new levels
* 5 new music tracks from Otograph
* Ice Tower is now a stock item
* Reduced gem cost to buy the Tesla Tower

April 29, 2008

There were reports that the celebrity comedian was Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock or Jim Norton. Hold you horses because on Weazel News you can catch the Celebrity Comedian giving his Liberty City stand-up show. The two Comedians are none other than…

Katt Williams

Ricky Gervais

Also, if you go into the comedy club named, LMAO, you can sit and enjoy the comedian Katt Williams give his outlook on Liberty City. He discusses gas prices and car prices… lol

Jack Thompson, GTA IV & Polio

April 29, 2008

I’m sure you are wondering what those three have in common. Recently, infamous super attourney Jack Thompson compared Grand Theft Auto IV to Polio, claiming that “Grand Theft Auto IV is the gravest assault upon children in this country since polio. We now have vaccines for that virus… The ‘vaccine’ that must be administered by the United States government to deal with this virtual virus of violence and sexual depravity is criminal prosecutions of those who have conspired to do this….”

Sorry to break it to you Jack, but at the height (1952) of polio, slightly more than 3,000 people were killed by the disease in the United States with an additional 60,000 contracting the virus. The last time I checked, Grand Theft Auto hasn’t caused the death of a single individual.

I personally believe that Grand Theft Auto IV should not be played by children and that’s precisely why the ESRB rated the game “M”. At this point, it’s a decision that needs to be made by parents. We don’t need special interest groups and the government telling us what consumer decisions are right for us. That goes for movies, video games, porn and any other kind of entertainment that doesn’t take away rights from others.

I really have no issues with protecting children, but this issue has nothing to do with protecting kids. This has to do with Jack Thompson and others who want to take away our civil rights and further their special interest causes. It absolutely astonishes me that mainstream media still puts Jack on the air and takes him seriously. We’re talking about the same wacky lawyer who sent pornographic materials to the Florida Supreme Court. Anyone who supports these anti-gaming antics of Thompson would probably also support public book burnings and the banning of all art that’s not approved by the government. Do we really want to live like Nazis?

Today is Officially GTA IV Day!

April 29, 2008

[Pee-wee has been picked up by a trucker]
Pee-wee: Some night, huh?
Large Marge: On this very night, ten years ago, along this very stretch of road in a dense fog just like this. I saw the worst accident I ever seen. There was this sound, like a garbage truck dropped off the Empire State Building… And when they pulled the driver’s body from the twisted, burning wreck. It looked like this…

Pee-wee: Aaaaaahh!
Large Marge: Yes, Sir, the worst accident I ever seen.

It was a night, just like tonight...

This is where Large Marge dropped me off… In front of GameStop in Hackensack, NJ

GOOD MORNING for those of you tired folks out there who couldn’t stay in line with the rest of the dedicated geeks for Grand Theft Auto 4 Day!. Our very own mrjuandrful was mixing and mingling with all the pimple popping, glasses with scotch tape in the middle wearing, bed head dorks. All in all, the release went quite well here in Hackensack, NJ. Of course there were PS3 and 360 fanboys predicting that their respective console would outsell the other. Nerds chatting with other nerds about Gears of War 2 and the terribleness which is Turok. And your average looking 14 year old waiting for their very own copy. I took snippets of the non catered event to show you the type of people who would wait in line for GTA IV.

So after my 90 minute wait, I finally arrived home with my non SE GTA 4. Those jerks wouldn’t let me upgrade. For those who don’t have the game yet, expect a 5 minute install time before you play, plus an additional 15 minutes of video before you pick up your PS3 controller…

After only a short hour of playing, I can tell you that the graphics look amazing. You can clearly see the glistening of the sun off the buildings. The NYC side streets are well shaded due to the tall building which surround them. And nothing says Big Apple, like getting pick pocketed in an alley. Can’t forget the prostitutes freely roaming the night life.

For those of you with the PS3 copy, don’t forget to add your favorite editor.

Wii Virtual Console Releases: Double Dragon

April 28, 2008

Double Dragon (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated Everyone 10+ — Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points): Double Dragon begins with Billy Lee’s girlfriend, Marian, being kidnapped by a group called the Black Warriors. They demand to know the secrets of Billy’s martial-arts style in exchange for his girlfriend. However, Billy won’t stand for these underhanded tactics and decides to rescue her himself. Help him fight through city streets, buildings, jungles, temples and various other locations in a quest to find his girl. He’ll gain experience by using different fighting techniques to obtain more hearts, which will unlock more powerful techniques to use against his enemies. Keep an eye out for crates, boulders, whips, bats, knives and even dynamite along the way, as Billy can also use them to annihilate opponents. Armed with his mysterious and powerful martial arts, help Billy pummel his way through an array of goons, gang members and other Black Warrior scum to free Marian from their clutches.

For all you Wii haters out there, I decided to incorporate more material on Nintendo’s Wii to tick you off.  Nintendo’s VC release is giving us only one this week, but it’s a classic.  Believe it or not, this game always gave me trouble going up the ladder.  It’s like the game was off kilter just a hair where to go up you had to stand left of the ladder.  But then again, maybe my NES wasn’t blown into properly.  Forget my ramblings, I never beat this one game so the excuses are pouring out like butter in a microwaved potato.
