Battlefield: Heroes producer talks about the PC as a gaming platform
March 31, 2008
What excites me about this title is its approach to their target audience. It is an experiment that could either fail, or skyrocket the PC into a reliable gaming platform again.
Reading the Gamasutra interview with DICE producer Ben Cousins made us at 1PStart think about the future of the PC. Is it all going to turn into this? Will CryEngine3 be console exclusive? Or will technology and software catch up to each other so that we may have the ultimate PC experience at a reasonable price, while switching to our browser to get nostalgic with Quake 3 and buy a new cool weapon in Battlefield: Heroes?
We do hope that we can eat our PC cake and have it at the same time. Battlefield: Heroes surely is a step in the right direction.
‘The Chronicles of Spellborn’ (PC) Latest Screens
March 31, 2008

The Chronicles of Spellborn (TCoS) is a MMORPG, developed by Spellborn International and distributed by Frogster Interactive, set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world. Spellborn uses the Unreal Engine, featuring a so-called European Art approach and contains notable contributions from Jesper Kyd[1].
Spellborn distinguishes itself from other MMORPGs by emphasizing the focus on story line, separating the look and the statistics of gear, integrating PvE (Player vs Environment) and PvP (Player vs Player) and offering combat that is fast paced and more reliant on player skill[2].
Dutch band Within Temptation wrote two songs for the game.

‘Hillary Clinton’s 3 AM Call of Duty: Mission Bosnia’
March 31, 2008
I don’t always like what Bill Maher has to say, but I love the fact that he’s always practicing something called “freedom of speech”. Although the video is real funny, it’s not actually from Call Of Duty, but whoever thought the mainstream media knew anything about games anyway?
Sarcastic Gamer Boycotting EA
March 30, 2008

EA and their new title ‘Battlefield: Bad Company’ has been in the hot seat this week as gamers found out that they will be charged for extra weapons. I’m usually against silly boycotts, because they either go nowhere or they don’t stand for the right things. In this case, I actually do think gamers should boycott the game. DLC (downloadable content) has been an extremely cool addition to console gaming, but it’s certainly getting out of control with some publishers. I have been suspicious for some time that they are intentionally holding back content so they can squeeze a few more dimes out of you down the road.
For the most part, DLC for games is reasonable, but charging real cash for a few extra weapons in a FPS game is out of line. If gamers don’t start speaking out, this will become the norm in the near future.
Sarcastic Gamer threw together an interesting video concerning the new game:
Retro Commercial: MushMouth Game

And they say video games are a bad influence on people? It kind of blows my mind when I check out board games from the 1970s and see how truly wacked out they were….
EA NASCAR 09 Trailer
March 30, 2008
EA Sports released a new video trailer for the upcoming NASCAR 09 video game. Jeff Gordon has been selected for the cover of the game. There aren’t really any ground breaking changes to be expected with 09, but they have retooled the handling mode which has made the game a little more realistic to play. Is the game worth picking up if you have 08? It’s still too early to say at this point, but I’d say if you already own 08, this would only be a good buy if you are a hard-core NASCAR fan. The series simply hasn’t made any major advancements in several seasons.

GTAIV: Incorporating PlayStation Home with DLC
March 30, 2008

“Badgers? Badgers? I don’t need no stinking Badgers!”
This is great news for those of us that are anticipating the release of GTAIV. Throw in the fact that you will have DLC through Home unlockables, and it just makes us cry with joy. Now I know that Microsoft has secured some exclusive content on the Xbox360, but you know Sony was not going to stay quiet.
Below is the article from PlayStation World (PSW) describing the Downloadable Content (DLC) for the PS3. A couple ideas have floated around, like downloading soundtracks from previous GTA’s. Or how about playing GTA and GTA 2 through Playstation Home. That’s what I’m talking about Baby. I mean RockStar has been allowing people to download those games for free through their website.
